God bless your boat in such a way that James and John—and the people connected to you—have to handle the overflow: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over. I’ve got to go; I’ve got to go, but I’m going to send a warning to the Jameses and Johns in your life: don’t leave too soon. To call it, my life is based on the quality of my decisions. Are y’all here? Every decision is pregnant with the potential to produce a season. Y’all, I only have a few minutes left for class. Come on, don’t hold your «Amen» until the end; throw them out! I say every decision is pregnant with the potential to produce a season. One decision can produce a whole season. Thank you! Did you hear what I just said? There are going to be seasons and situations where we have to make decisions, and our five senses alone won’t be enough because every decision is not black and white; every decision is not right or wrong; every decision is not good or bad. Some decisions are great decisions! It’s like this: it could go either way, but I don’t know. Y’all aren’t talking to me here! Yeah, yeah! Great decisions—should I leave, or should I stay? Should I reconcile, or should I walk away? Should I take this job, or should I not? Should I move, or should I stay where I am? Do I do the deal, or do I not do the deal? Do I expand, or do I not expand? Do I scale up, or do I scale down? Do I hire him, or do I hire her? Y’all aren’t talking to me in here! There are some decisions that are great decisions, and if you are only limited to your five senses, you’re going to spend your life rolling the dice, hoping you’re making the right decision with great decisions. But when you get a revelation that your heavenly Father is a shepherd who says, «I want to lead and influence you when it comes to making your decisions, ” you will not panic when you’re facing seasons and situations that involve great decisions. You will realize and recognize that you have a sixth sense. Ladies and gentlemen, our text is an incredible example of what I’m attempting to articulate. This text is about to teach us that life without the proper utilization of the sixth sense is a life that leads to shipwreck. Yep, this passage I just read in Acts exposes us to this preacher named Paul, who is being transported to Rome to defend himself against false charges leveled by religious leaders. As they travel to Rome, they anchor the ship in a place called Fair Havens, and they stay there for a while, making preparations to leave. Paul says something very significant to them; he says in verse 10, „Men, I perceive that this voyage will end with disaster and much loss, not only of the cargo but also of our lives.“ Paul says, „Gentlemen, we don’t need to leave.“ They say, „We need to get out of here because this isn’t a good place to port for winter.“ Here’s the challenge: Paul’s trade or occupation is tent-making. He’s talking to people who are professional sailors, so he’s articulating his opinion to people who are supposedly experts in this area. These men have more experience than him; they have more exposure than him; they have more education in this field than he does; they have more ability in sailing than he does. But the problem is they only had five senses, and some of you won’t speak up because you’re so busy looking at the five things you don’t have instead of looking at the one thing you do have. Did you hear what I just said? They had all of that, but Paul had a sixth sense, and they were limited to what their five senses could tell them. They saw an opportunity through their five senses, but Paul looked at the same thing and saw a trap. People who have not developed their sixth sense are people who can’t tell the difference between an opportunity and a trap because some traps come dressed up looking like opportunities. Did you hear what I just said? If you’re only living with the five senses, you’ll look at the potential income, the potential exposure, and the potential opportunity, and you might assume it’s God. But that sixth sense inside of you will say, „Everything that glitters ain’t gold. Walk away. Don’t sign it.“ Y’all aren’t talking to me. Don’t go there. Is there anybody who can look back over your life and say, „I’ve been saved by my success“? They saw an opportunity; Paul saw a trap. Foreign, he’s a tent maker talking to sailors, but he had access to the one who has information about all things. I’m going to say that one more time: he had access to the one who has information about all things. So a tent maker didn’t have a problem talking to a fisherman because he looked back and reflected upon—I’m assuming—a carpenter in Luke 5 who was talking to a fisherman. A man named Peter had been fishing all day and all night and caught nothing. The carpenter named Jesus walked up to Peter and said, „I want you to let down your net one more time.“ Peter said, „This is what I do; I’ve been fishing all night, and I’ve caught nothing.“ Back in those days, they didn’t fish during the day; they fished at night so that the fish couldn’t see the net. So he’s saying, „Jesus, you’re telling me to do this at the wrong time. Nevertheless, at your word, I’m going to lay…
