David Diga Hernandez - Bring Back the Holy Spirit

Say, «Holy Spirit, I am hungry for Your power.» In the book of John, chapter 14, verse 12, Jesus makes an astonishing statement. Of all the things Jesus said, this statement astonishes me the most. I’ve read where Jesus said you can move mountains with your faith. I’ve read where Jesus said He has given us the power to heal the sick. I’ve read where Jesus said, «I will be crucified, and on the third day I will be raised to life again.» I’ve heard Him say through Scripture these powerful truths, but this statement is, in my opinion, one of the most extraordinary declarations our Lord has ever made. In John chapter 14, verse 12, He even has to emphasize it; He says, «I tell you the truth, anyone—say anyone—who believes in Me will do the same works I have done.» Think about that, church: «I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in Me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works.» He did not specify His immediate twelve disciples; He did not say the New Testament church; He did not limit it to those in a certain dispensation, implying that afterwards miracles would cease. No, Jesus promised and emphasized, saying, «I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in Me.» That is a powerful statement! Anyone who believes in Me—if you believe in Jesus, you can do what Jesus did! Why is that? Because He sent us His Holy Spirit.

As I minister this word this Pentecost Sunday, the Scripture says in Acts chapter 1, verse 8, «You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.» And what comes next? «And you will be My witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.» Notice the movement begins in the city of Jerusalem and then moves to regions like Judea and Samaria, before exploding onto the global stage all around the world. Holy Spirit, pour out Your power and touch Orange, California, Southern California, California, the United States, and the world! How does He do it? He does it through you. You shall receive power; that power from on high comes upon us for one primary purpose: to win the lost, to be witnesses. These miracles you saw tonight are meant to point to one primary message: Jesus is Lord. There is no other way to heaven but through Jesus. Jesus saves from sin and hell; Jesus is the way.

Church, we have been given this power and this responsibility to carry the Gospel message throughout the world. Many of you sitting in this place tonight, many of you watching by television, the internet, or YouTube, will hear this word and will be used by God greatly. I am excited to consider the truth that there are other evangelists sitting in this crowd right now. There are evangelists, there are prophets, there are pastors, and teachers, and apostles. There are people with gifts of healing, the prophetic, miracles, faith, helps, and all the gifts present here. This power is present; the anointing is present. God has given you His Holy Spirit and empowered you. You are the prophetic fulfillment of the words of Jesus when He said, «Anyone who believes in Me will do these works, and even greater.»

Look at the state of the world; things are falling apart. People say we are on the verge of war. You look at the darkness that surrounds us and sense the uncertainty. There are threats of disease and war, and then you look at the state of the church, and all you hear is the self-help gospel. Church, let me make something very clear: the Gospel is not about self-help; it is about self-abandonment. They are teaching people how to build their esteem and strengthen their minds. I do not want to build what God told me to crucify. We need to stop preaching, «Here’s how you have seven steps to this and eight keys to success,» and «nine keys to success,» and all the keys and all the steps and all the programs. We do not need programs; we need the power of the Holy Ghost. Programs cannot replace power, systems cannot replace the Spirit, and methods cannot replace miracles. The power of the Holy Spirit, when He comes upon you, gives you all that you need.

I do not know about you, but I am tired of the church shying away from the Holy Spirit. I am tired of the church treating the Holy Spirit like He is a liability. I am tired of the church saying, «Well, save the prayers for special services.» I prophesy right here and right now that this is the dawning of a new era, the beginning of a new season, and the power of the Holy Spirit will once again flood our churches. All He needs is someone who says, «Welcome, Holy Spirit.» All He needs is a vessel who will say, «I am willing to do what You have called me to do.» Forget about self-help; forget about the programs. I do not need your 30-second devotionals with no depth of the Word. We need a return to the power of the Holy Spirit, and this is the beginning of that.

You who are sitting here, saying, «We want more than what is out there; we want more than just the little quotes that we read every day,» stop telling me how to climb my mountain when I have the power to move it! We need people of faith. We need people who will rise and say, «I may not look cool; I may not have all the trends, but in…»
