David Diga Hernandez - How to Cast Out Demons

Well, as you can probably tell, this isn’t the normal set for Spirit Church, and over the next few weeks, you’re going to see different setups as we transition to the new and final location for this season of our ministry. We are almost done constructing the new television set, but in the meantime, as I said, you’re going to be seeing different sets in front of you. Don’t get used to any of them. I will tell you when we’re on the new set; I promise.

So, I’m talking to you about how to cast out demonic powers. Now, you’ve often heard it said that you have authority over demonic beings. I taught over the past couple of weeks about the signs of demonic possession, but now I want to teach you how you can cast them out. Really, there is no «how-to» when it comes to the very specific application of laying hands on someone who is possessed by a demonic spirit. What I’m discussing here is how to live such a life that gives you authority over demonic beings.

You see, there is no ritual that you have to apply to cast out demons; there is no special prayer that you can pray that will cause them to leave someone. If there were a special prayer or a ritual, the power would be in that ritual, the power would be in that prayer, rather than in the power of the Holy Spirit. You and I both know that the power to drive out demonic forces comes from the Holy Spirit Himself living within you.

Now, how do you live in such a way that that authority, that power, manifests, causing the demonic and the demonically oppressed to go free when you come near them, when you lay hands on them, when you drive out that demonic being? Well, the key really is time in God’s presence, and I’m going to talk about that for a moment. But I want to share this story to illustrate the power of what I’m talking about.

I was ministering on the East Coast, and this was a conference where I was speaking to a group of youth and young adults. It was a powerful time in God’s presence. People had come from all over the East Coast to be at this meeting, and I was ministering. I forget the message even to this day; I believe it was on being light in a dark world. But during my message, I began to sense a stirring in the spirit. The atmosphere began to shift, and toward the end of the service, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, this girl began to scream, growl, cuss, and contort. She was shaking under the power of God.

I knew immediately that it was a demonic power inside of her. She began to manifest, and the ushers came forward, saying we had to remove her from the service because she was a distraction. As they dragged her out of the service, the Holy Spirit quickened me. He said, «Call that girl forward; I want to demonstrate my power.» So I said, «Call her forward; bring her up here to the front.» The ushers started pulling her to the front of the building, but the whole time, she was fighting them, kicking, trying to stop the movement with her feet. She didn’t want to get anywhere near me.

Finally, she stood just a few feet in front of me, cursing and shaking, her face contorting. Just as I went to lay hands on her, someone else in the crowd began to manifest—someone possessed by a demonic being. I said to bring that person up too, and as they were dragging that person up, another person began to manifest, and then another, until there were about a dozen demon-possessed people standing in a line—all of them screaming, many of them cursing, all contorting their faces and looking at me with rage and hatred in their eyes.

I’ve cast out demons from many people, and many of them have told me that while I was praying for them, they felt this hatred in their hearts toward me and wanted to kill me. Knowing that, as I looked at this crowd of people, I could see the demonic hatred on their faces, and I could feel that demonic influence on their bodies. So, I just prayed a simple prayer. The Lord told me to just pray a simple prayer; that’s how I was led in the moment. I said, «In the name of Jesus.» The moment I spoke the name of Jesus—before I could even finish pronouncing it, just as I said the first syllable, «G, ” all of those who were up at the front for deliverance fell out under the power of God.

They began to twist on the ground like snakes and screamed. I prayed a simple prayer of deliverance, something like, „I command you to let them go,“ and all of them, at the same time, were delivered. They stood up, and instead of screaming, instead of yelling, instead of contorting their faces, instead of slithering on the ground like snakes, they stood—many of them with tears streaming down their faces—and lifted their hands, beginning to worship God. They were set free in an instant. My friend, that’s how Jesus did it.
