David Diga Hernandez - Presence and Power

Hello, David Diga Hernandez here, and you are watching Encounter TV. Today, I’m going to show you footage from the Philippine Islands. It’ll be the second time we’ve gone out there. My friend Stephen Moctezuma is going to join me on the program today to help with some of the hosting and the questions we will take a little later. Today’s format is going to be a bit different than usual because of some things that happened with the footage from the Philippines, but it all worked out for the good. So, we’re going to show you a couple of clips from the Philippines today, and then we’ll get into the question-and-answer segment.

What you’re actually going to see right now is something that we call an encounter service. An encounter service is our ministry event that we take here in the States and internationally. Steve Moctezuma actually leads the worship on Encounter TV, and many of you who subscribe to our YouTube channel or are YouTube viewers know who Steve is because he also does some of the worship for our channel. But tell us a little about being at the encounter services from a second perspective, I guess. What is it like preparing for one? What is it like regarding what God does during one? What do you witness there?

Oh yeah, preparing for an encounter service is a lot of fun, but at the same time, it’s a lot of hard work. Obviously, prior to doing worship, I used to operate cameras. You were actually one of the first on a TV camera! I used to be. If you look on YouTube at Diga’s old stuff, you’ll see me back there with my camera doing some of the shots. But before that, I did cameras, and just being behind the camera while miracles are happening is somewhat unreal. Being at the services, it’s like a miracle, and I’m glad you’re here because you kind of serve as a testimony for someone who hasn’t been in one.

And I know it might not sound good, but what’s one of the miracles you witnessed at an encounter service that stands out? One of the ones that really did, I mean, obviously, I was behind the camera when this happened. It was a woman who was deaf in I believe her left or right ear. It almost seemed as if the faith was just building in the room. People were excited; people wanted to see this miracle, and we were just filming it. I was expecting it, and in my heart, I thought, «All right, I better get this shot because if I don’t get it, I’d be furious.» So, you know, just filming it felt almost like I was literally watching it myself, although I was behind the camera.

Diga began to pray and started to snap his fingers, and one of the cool things he does is to test this out and build faith. It’s quite incredible. He’ll literally say, «Can you hear me?» and walk back a few steps while asking, «Can you hear me?» and keep going, «Can you hear me? Can you hear me?» Their eyes would be closed, and they would just be hearing with their ear. When she got healed, she was healed dramatically; you could literally see it. Yes, you could see the moment she got healed. She literally lifted her hands, and everyone just gasped! Everyone was amazed, and I got teared up. I really did feel emotional because being behind the camera and filming these things, you can truly feel the presence of God right where you are, even while filming.

That’s really fascinating. One of the other reasons I brought you on is that I think it’s important for people to see that there are other young people in ministry besides me. Often, we think that there are certain types of ministries that young people do; you know, «I’ll do the sound, or I’ll do the camera or the media.» But I truly believe that God wants to raise young people to worship, to pray for the sick, and to prophesy. That has kind of been my heart, and that’s why I’m so glad you’re here today because you lead some of the worship for the encounter services. What’s it like to worship and talk about the presence of God?

So, I mean, leading worship obviously, I’ve been worshiping for quite some time since I was very young. I’ve grown up in church with Diga here, and I found a love for worship. Through his ministry, I was able to express that. So, during one of the last encounter services and miracle services I attended, I was able to fully lead the worship and bring the presence of God into that place. It’s something that feels very different from leading worship at a church because I felt I could really flow.
