Here’s the word for today: «I can see clearly now.» Clap your hands everywhere; they’re all over the room. Personal development specialists, a Christian trailblazer in the area of human potential named Zig Ziglar from Yazoo City, Mississippi, was once credited with a statement that is relevant to today’s sermon. He says this, family: «If you aim at nothing, you hit it every time.» This specific statement speaks to the danger of living life with determination but no direction—grinding with no GPS, exerting effort without strategic intentionality. This statement subliminally highlights the importance and necessity of vision. Somebody say, «Vision»! Vision! No, say it with a kingdom attitude: «Vision»! Vision! Yes, vision is a picture of God’s preferred future; it is a sneak preview of a coming attraction. It’s not the movie, but it’s a trailer, and the trailer isn’t the whole movie, but it’s enough of the movie for you to see that it’s about to be good. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is in a real sense a powerful picture of this concept called vision. Vision is so essential to our evolution and advancement that the Bible says without a vision, people perish. One translation says that without a vision, people cast off restraint; they wander aimlessly, live impulsively, operate without intentionality, and get to the point where they climb the ladder of success only to realize they’ve leaned that ladder against the wrong wall. The enemy understands the importance of vision, I think, in ways that believers don’t, and this is why he aggressively attempts to do all he can to keep you and me unclear. Did you hear what I just said? Yeah! If we jaywalk back to the book of Genesis, you’ll see the first act of spiritual warfare. One of the first things he did was try to confuse Eve. Are y’all here? Yeah! He said, «Did God really say you shouldn’t eat from the tree of the garden?» Confusion sometimes is an act of spiritual warfare. The enemy is afraid of you getting clear because he knows that when you get clear, you know what to say yes to and what to say no to. He knows that when you get clear, you know what to accept and what to reject. He knows that when you get clear, you know what standards are necessary for the accomplishment of your vision. I need somebody to talk back to me in here today! This is why the enemy aggressively attempts to keep us unclear, because he knows that the absence of clarity is expensive. Yes, sir! Being unclear is costly. «PD, what does it cost me?» The first thing it costs is speed. You go slower when you’re unclear, come on! A lack of clarity infects us with indecisiveness, and life moves at the speed of your decisions. Where’d you get that from, PD? The Bible. The Bible says the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord; He delights in his way. And though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord upholds him with His right hand. Steps are not just steps; they are systematic and sequential patterns of movement that move you from one place to another. So the steps that the Lord orders are not your feet. God doesn’t control your feet; He controls your head. He influences your head, come on! Your decisions move you from one place to another, but if you’re unclear, you become indecisive. Come on here! Okay, let me see. I know some of you have perfected the fruit of the Spirit called temperance, and so you have major self-control. You never get agitated and never get irritated, especially when you’re in traffic. You are just godly, patient, and compassionate. «Oh, they’re going slow; maybe they have somewhere to go.» Yeah, but some of us, He’s still perfecting, and sanctifying that area. Have you ever been behind someone and you have somewhere to go, and you know where you’re going and how to get there, but you’re behind somebody who is just stopping? Their car has the ability to go faster, but they cannot maximize their ability because they lack clarity. Even when you could go faster, you can’t go faster when you’re unclear. So a lack of clarity is costly; it costs me speed. Somebody say, «What else?» That was weak! Every location say, «What else?» What else? Not only does it cost me speed, but it costs me sanity. I know some of you have perfected peace, and your peace is impenetrable. It’s not fragile; nothing ever disturbs your peace. But for the few of us that are still having our peace perfected, here’s what you have to admit: the lack of clarity can increase your anxiety, especially when you realize that you need to make a decision. But not just any decision; you need to make the right one. Come on here! Every decision is black and white, good and evil. Some decisions are great, so it’s easy to make a decision when one is good. What do you do when both are good? I need to make the right decision, but just because it’s a good decision doesn’t mean it’s the right decision, so I have anxiety about making the wrong decision because I need to make the right decision in this season, but I don’t know what decision is right. It costs me speed; it costs me sanity. Somebody say, «What else?» Uh-huh! You know I’m not letting you get away with that. Say, «What else?» What else? It costs me stability. See, if you aren’t clear, then where you are is not where you’re supposed to be.
