John K. Jenkins Sr - The Purpose Series - Part 3

Biggest Purpose Series Part Three: We’re going to talk about part three. In part one, we discussed why God created you and the purpose for your life. Ultimately, your life is about giving glory to God. Yes, when all is said and done, I know you think it’s about you, but it ain’t about you. Let me tell you in a straightforward way-I know that’s not good English, but it’s good preaching. It Ain’t About You! Tell the person next to you, «You aren 't all that.» Some of you have shipwrecked your life because you thought it was all about you, your career, your name, your future, and how much money you make. You think it’s all about that, but no, that’s not what it’s about. Your life is about how you can best give glory to God; that’s what it’s about. It’s about you being in the center of God’s will and giving Him all the glory and praise. It’s all about worshiping Him. Somebody say amen! That 's what it’s about! That 's what Jesus wants you to know. He’ll help you reach your destiny when you understand that He’s called you to be a servant. He’s called you to get into your flow of things. As a matter of fact, turn to Luke chapter 22 real quick, because I’m going to base my conversation today on this scripture. Ultimately, what it’s about in Luke 22 is significant. Let me back up-slow down, Pastor! Slow down! Today is part three, and I need to be clear that I don’t have points. So don’t wait for point one or point two. That 's how I normally preach, but I’m not doing points today. Just write down whatever the Lord tells you as He speaks to you.

In Luke chapter 22, Jesus is amidst His disciples, and they are having an argument. The disciples are arguing about who is the greatest. Really, what the argument is about is who is going to take Jesus' place as the leader of the ministry once He leaves. They want to know who will be the next leader of this major ministry. So they are debating, and Jesus says the greatest among you is the person who is willing to be a servant. The reason some of you can’t achieve greatness in life is that you are unwilling to be a servant. You want people to serve you, but you aren’t willing to serve anybody. That 's what Jesus says in this dialogue with them: He says the greatest among you is the person who serves, who is willing to be a servant. Then He says this in verse 29: «And I bestow upon you a kingdom just as my Father bestowed one upon me.» Now that’s a major statement. It’s significant. Jesus is saying, «I’m going to do for you what the Father did for me.» The Father bestowed a kingdom on me, and I’m going to give you a kingdom. What does that mean? It means that God’s going to put you in your zone- that’s how I like to put it. God will put you in your zone when you discover the truth of the matter. When you get in your zone, nobody can do what you do like you do it. No one can be a better John Jenkins than John Jenkins. I’m the best me! Don 't try to be me! That 's where some of you get in trouble; you want to try to be like somebody else. Be who God created you to be. Function in the giftings, the anointing, and the personality that God gave you. Stop trying to be like Beyoncé. Stop trying to dress like her; stop trying to walk like her; stop trying to act like her. Oh, I see you! I ain’t saying none, because I know some of y’all went to see her last night! Let me be quiet; I’ll leave that alone. Jesus said, «I’m going to bestow upon you.» So when you get in your zone, when you fully engage in the things I created you to do, and when you are the person I created you to be and walk the way I intended you to walk, nobody can outdo you doing you. Nobody can give God more glory than when you become who you truly are. I love that! Jesus shares this with them, and then I talked to you about part one and part two. In part two, I discussed how Nehemiah discovered his gift. Nehemiah went back and built the walls around Jerusalem in 52 days. He made record pace with his accomplishments. We learned how to discover our gifts- by understanding our passion and burden, recognizing the provisions God makes for us, identifying the opportunities He opens up, and acknowledging the opposition we face.
