When Christ hung there on the cross, not only he died for your sins, he died as you. Now watch this: In other words, you will never be held accountable for your sins anymore. God raised Jesus from the dead because God declared you righteous. It's like God declared, you know, Jesus righteous. Of course we know he's righteous all the time, but don't forget, at this point in his history, his life has become intricately bound with yours, and now, when God raised him from the dead, it's because God has declared you righteous. Isn't that wonderful to know?

The key to overcoming sin or the power of sin in our lives is to realize we are dead, once and for all, to the guilt and the punishment of sin. In other words, sin can never bring the curse on you. Sin can never bring God's condemnation on you. Breathe easy. That doesn't make you wanna sin. No, the truth, believing the truth, there's something sanctifying to your heart about believing the truth.
