Keion Henderson - How to Work Your Miracle

Turn with me to the book of Genesis, chapter 21. We’re starting a new series today called «Miracles» because I’m believing that it’s a season where many of you are getting ready to experience the supernatural power of God. I’m not going to be overly spiritual about how God gave me this. I was in the office, wondering what the Lord wanted me to say, and Jazz, my wife’s assistant, was sitting at the table. I said to Jazz, «Well, I’m getting ready to go study.» She always replies, «I’ll make sure nobody bothers you.» Then she asked, «What are you preaching?» I said, «I don’t know.» She asked, «What do you want me to preach?» I said, «How Jazz is going to get a miracle.» When I said that, she said, «Yes! That 's what I meant.» So, when I heard her, I thought, «There it is! We 're in the season of miracles.» Get ready for the supernatural power of God in every aspect of your life! Somebody shout, «I believe in miracles!» Amazingly enough, God gave me the first sermon on the subject we’ve been discussing on Sundays for the last few weeks. In Genesis 21, the Bible says that the Lord visited Sarah just as He said He would. Oh my God! I think something’s going to happen here today. That right there is enough — just like He said He would. So Sarah became pregnant and she bore a son. All this time, we’ve been talking about the promise and some of you have been in that season of promise. The problem is, are you going to get it? This is the text where she got pregnant and had her son. Touch your neighbor and say, «I’ve been getting ready, but now I am in the season, not of being pregnant, but of giving birth! You are in that season now!» Watch this: She named her son Isaac, and Abraham circumcised him on the eighth day. Now, I can’t tell you how important that is-I’ll share that in a sermon later. Isaac is a type of Christ because Jesus was circumcised on the eighth day. Verse 5: «Now Abraham was one hundred years old when his son was born to him.» And Sarah said, «God has made me laugh.» I need you to understand that last Sunday we talked about how she overheard the angel telling her. I don’t want to get into the sermon, but I’m telling you the Spirit of the Lord is in this place now. All of you are here for the Word of the Lord. We are the seeds of miracles. What I want to start off preaching today is this: how to work your miracle. I want you to touch everybody in this place and say, «God wants me to tell you that the miracle is coming, but you are going to have to learn how to work your miracle.» Somebody shout in this place today! You may be seated in the presence of the Lord. This sermon is so fresh; I’m up here writing notes right now. Give me a minute-this is like a Rhema word! I am writing my sermon right now. «In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, and the earth was without form and void .» I used to think the first miracles happened later in the text. Some would say the first miracle was here when Isaac was born, but that would contradict the scripture. I realized that most people only classify miracles based on what they get out of them. So if you need something and God provides it, then all of a sudden, it’s a miracle. But what is a miracle? A miracle is when God does something that doesn’t make sense; it’s when God’s design goes against earthly design. A miracle is when the doctors say you can’t have children, and then you go back and they can’t even find what they were looking for. The truth is, miracles don’t have to be that big; they can be small. For some of you, it’s a miracle that you still have your house; it’s a miracle that you still have your apartment. It’s a miracle that you raised those children by yourself and they turned out halfway decent. It’s a miracle that your marriage is still holding up; it’s a miracle that you haven’t lost your mind! Right? I believe in miracles! Let me just say that again: I believe in miracles. I won’t let anyone tell me that God stopped working miracles in scripture; I think He is doing them right now! Can I just tell you all that? I don’t even have to go to the Bible to prove this; I can go right to this church! That was a Saturday meeting we had here-some of you were there. It was only maybe 40 people, and I was teaching the leaders. We had five women who came, and the Lord spoke to me and said there was a spirit of barrenness here.
