Your mouth is a weapon and it becomes a double-edged sword when you speak what God has already said. Tune in as Pastor Keion uses Hebrews 4:12 to teach you that there is a ministry in your mouth and you will see what you speak.
I want you to go to Hebrews chapter four. Praise God for our praise and worship team; they did a fantastic job. Musicians and guys, you are awesome! Hebrews chapter 4, verse 12. If you have it, say, «I got it.» Every time I hear that, I think of Tyler Perry; he really messed me up when he said, «You know, the Bible says that women shouldn’t make coffee, because Hebrews!» Hebrews 4:12, here’s what the Word of God says: «For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow.» Going back to the top of verse 12, it says " and,» and the subject isn 't going to make sense until I get to the middle or the end of it. But it says the word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword.
Today, I want to talk about the ministry of the mouth. The ministry of the mouth. You may be seated in the presence of the Lord. It is important, when you read the Scripture, to keep in mind the relationship between the Old and the New Testaments. One theologian said that the New Testament and the Old Testament form one testament: the Old Testament is God concealed, while the New Testament is God revealed. When you see a person with seemingly inexhaustible knowledge of Scripture, it is because he or she has come to the realization that the Bible is not about several stories; it is really one story told in many different ways.
When I was growing up, my mother used to do jigsaw puzzles on the dining room table. She didn’t do those 200-piece puzzles; no, Mama did a thousand-piece puzzle. Have you ever looked at a puzzle and couldn’t tell what it was? You saw all the pieces scattered everywhere. Sometimes you can take one piece and misjudge it, thinking that, because of its color, it belongs in a certain place. But no, it is not the color you should be paying attention to; it’s the shape. Yes, life is really like a jigsaw puzzle. When you judge it by the pieces, you miss the point that God really does make all things work together for your good. But you will miss His work by judging it before He works it out.
There are pieces to your life: scattered pieces, broken pieces, confusing pieces. Sir, you’ve got all of these pieces, and when you look at them in isolation, you become confused about what it is that God wants you to do. But you don’t know that this piece is going to connect to that piece, and that this sorrow connects to that promotion, and this fear leads to that success. When you start putting it together, you will understand that God intends for you to have a holistic approach to life. He does not want you to continue to judge Him by the fragments. Excuse me, He doesn’t want you to judge Him by the pieces.
Is anybody dealing with broken pieces in your life? Just look beside you. Look at them. I said, «Look at them!» You’re still looking at me? Look at them! Look them in the face; look beyond their eyes. Don 't be trying to holler; just look at them! Now, what do you see? What did you see? Who saw pain? Who saw happiness? Who saw anger? What did you see? Ain 't too much more. I mean, what did you see? Who saw sarcasm? Who said sarcasm? Who said promise? I saw somebody else said promise. You know what? It depends on who you were looking at, because if you look at this young man, you saw one thing; if you looked at this young man, you saw another. But what we tend to do is we look at people and judge them by what’s in our eyes, not by what’s in theirs. Because the truth is, if you looked them in the eyes closely enough, you would see yourself.
The eyes are a mirror; they are a mirror. Even for those of us who use them to reflect on ourselves, what we are seeing is light reflecting off surfaces. They are mirrors, and I wanted you to look at that person. I wanted you to look into their eyes. I wanted you to look at them, because the truth is: it’s you and them and them and you. You 're probably dealing with the same thing, and that is you have looked at the trailer of your life and judged the outcome. You have looked at the puzzle and judged God based on the fragments and the pieces. When the Scripture specifically says, «He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.» And most of us fall apart before the establishment. Tell your neighbor, «He ain’t done.» He’s not done! He’s not done working with you. He’s not done working on you. He’s not done downloading into you. He’s not done speaking to you. He’s not done exposing you. He’s not done fixing it! But you cannot fall apart while God is in the process.
