Keion Henderson - Don't Trust The Cups

Today, I want to discuss a particular subject: don’t trust the cups. That 's what I want to talk about-don’t trust the cups. I think that one of the most sought-after realities in all of life is the idea of freedom. What we see in America today is different groups of people fighting for what we call freedom. Blacks are fighting for freedom, whites are fighting for freedom, and immigrants are fleeing their countries, coming to America in search of freedom. Children and young adolescents transitioning from childhood to adulthood are fighting their parents, all for freedom. Now, there is much argument to be had, because obviously, when you are not encapsulated or restricted, then there is no freedom to fight for. That 's another discussion. But from the perspective of all the people in our society today-left, right, center, liberal, conservative, black, white, indifferent, dark-skinned, light-skinned-everybody is fighting for freedom. Old and young are battling for freedom. That 's why you have people who age and do not want to be placed in assisted living or nursing homes. Why? Because it is the beginning of the loss of freedom. Everybody is fighting for freedom. Men have marched for freedom and died for it. Women have sat down on buses and refused to give up their seats, all for this concept called freedom. Young people are marching across America right now with pickets, signs, fervor, and enthusiasm because they are a generation refusing to be locked up. They are in search of, and willing to put their freedom on the line to be free. Nations are at war over freedom, and countries are in unrest, all because of freedom.

When I say freedom, my definition for today’s discussion is the unjust restraint of a person, place, or thing. So when I say freedom, I mean freedom from unjust restraint, because you can actually lose your freedom and not deserve it if you commit a heinous crime. In that case, it is justifiable that your freedom be lost in exchange for the freedom you took from another. But for today’s discussion, I want to talk about the unjust restraint that the enemy has placed on you. I want to address the unjust boundaries that Satan has used to manipulate and constrain you. I want to talk about the psychological barriers of systematic patterns that have been passed down to you from your mother, from her mother, and from her mother, as well as from your father, his father, and his father-the psychological restraints that have been handed down to you like family heirlooms. Because there are few people who walk this world who are actually free, I would suggest that when I mention freedom, you don’t just think about the idea of being able to do whatever you want. I would propose today that freedom, watch this, is purely environmental; you are not free just because you are free — you are only free when everything that surrounds you supports that freedom. Some of you own a house and live in it, but because of the spirit in the house, you’re not in cages, yet you’re not free. Some of you have jobs that pay you well, but you are almost a taskmaster or at the behest of a taskmaster. You have to show up at a certain time, and you have to leave at a certain time. I say this with all due respect because I am speaking now to entrepreneurs and to those of you who have that spirit in you: if you have a job, you’re not free. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with having a job because I have a job, and I’ve had jobs, but there must be some area of your life where you attach yourself to a goal, a vision, and a dream. The only place you’re going to find freedom is where you’re working for yourself, and even that has its restraints.

I believe that freedom is a factor of one’s environment, and God is an environmentalist. He says, «If you abide in me,» look at God trying to create and substantiate your environment. He says, «If my word abides in you, and you abide in my word.» Watch what He says in John 8:32: «And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.» In other words, your environment really hinges upon two things: truth and freedom. You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. I’m talking about freedom, and I know you’re going to have to walk this journey with me because I’m laying the case. Don 't touch the dial; don’t go on! If you’re the kind of person that needs me to be shouting in three minutes, you’re at the wrong place because we are at a critically pendulous moment in our society where cooler heads must prevail and minds must be regulated. I’m talking about actual freedom, and I want you to consider this: a fish is free in water, but it depends on the environment within the water. If a fish is on the surface of the water, it isn’t free. If a fish is swimming on the surface of the water, it can be caught by a fishing hook, pursued by a bird that flies from the sky, or eaten by an alligator-anything that swims on the surface of the water. If a fish wants to be free in its environment, it has to dive into the depths and go where it cannot...
