Here is what the Lord told me to tell you today as a subject: He said what He said. Touch three people and say, «I don’t care what it looks like; He said what He said.» That 's it! Just practice because you’re going to be doing this all day. Tell your neighbor, «I said what I said.» You might not agree with it, but I said it. By the way, the sun is shining.
Now let me teach you something real quick about a storm: whenever you see a storm, head towards it. Because if you run from the storm, it’ll follow you; if you run to it, it’ll pass over you. Each of the Gospel writers has things in common; typically, they cover some or most of the same miracles. It’s a blind man, whether you’re in Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John, but they all cover it from their viewpoint and vantage point based on their life experiences.
The truth is, none of us really see what happens to us; we actually see what is happening through the lens of what happened to us. Did you hear what I said? So even though you think you see a fact, the truth is you see it through the lens of trauma. Oftentimes, what actually happened isn’t what you remember, but because what you’ve been through tells a story to you, you believe you see facts even in the presence of fiction.
If you are hypersensitive, you think that you’re always offended. The truth is, offense must be taken; it is never given. If I am immune to your perspective of me, you cannot offend me. But if I am not, then I take offense because I’m already offended before I am offended. Did you hear me? That being said, when you read the synoptic Gospels- Matthew, Mark, Luke, the first three-and then you read John, you’ll see that all of them speak of the same things from a different vantage point.
Why? Because Matthew worked for the IRS; he was a tax collector. How many of you know that people who work for the government are different from people who work for themselves? Mark, well, he was a fisherman; so was John. So you have a tax collector and two fishermen telling the stories from two totally different perspectives. If you talk about the rodeo from somebody from New York, they’re like, «What 's the purpose of walking around in a cowboy hat, riding a horse, and wearing cowboy boots with a big buckle?» You look ridiculous! But if you talk to someone from Houston, it’s like Coachella; people are getting ready for the rodeo now because it’s all about perspective. It’s all about where you come from; it’s all about what you’ve been through.
This story I wanted to discuss from the perspective of Luke because we’re talking about the birth of a baby, and I didn’t want to consult an IRS man or a fisherman; I wanted to talk to a doctor. Yes, sir! For Luke was the physician, which is why we see him being the one to discuss the woman with the issue of blood-because only a doctor can speak to a hematological situation.
Now, I am not saying that fishermen and IRS people don’t have some sort of understanding of anatomy, but I am saying that I think it is essential for us to consult the perspective of a professional. It is prudent for someone who I believe has one of the most consequential births in all of history- Jesus being number one. There is nobody who has ever been born who had a birth more impactful to the Earth than Jesus the Christ.
But I would use my Holy Ghost imagination and the authority invested in me by the Holy Spirit to say that if Jesus was the most important birth in history, John has to be the second. For John was sent to tell us that Jesus was coming. If you go back and read the Scripture, it is very clear that they are cousins because Mary, Jesus’s mother, was the first cousin of Elizabeth, who is John’s mother. It is totally amazing to show you the distance of their lineage because at the time of pregnancy, Mary is 14 and Elizabeth is 88.
Imagine going to your family reunion-because both of these pregnancies are out of line. Let 's just keep it 100: I don’t want you pregnant at 14. Imagine your great-grandmama or your grandma; you go over there to visit her after church and she says, «I got something to tell y’all: me and Paw Paw have some news, we’re expecting.» She is literally carrying at the age she is supposed to be carrying because God will often send you the thing that you have to carry past the strength of your carrying years.
God will often send you the hardest trial of your life when you feel you don’t have the strength to survive. Has anybody ever had a circumstance in your life when you were like, «God, I understand what You 're doing, but this is not convenient?» I don’t want to be pregnant right now. I don’t want to be forgiving right now. I don’t want to get over what they did to me right now. I don’t want to forgive them! Holler at your boy! Right now, I am in a season of getting even, Jesus.
But God is going to send you somebody who will be able to talk sense to you because you’re going to be in the same situation even though you’re in different stages. Mary is 14 and pregnant; Elizabeth is 88 and pregnant. But her baby inside her is related to the baby inside of Mary. One would come first, but one was already here! Oh my God! Y’all aren 't here; y’all are not here with me!
