I want to talk to you in these next few moments about this subject. I don’t regret it. I want you to tell everybody in your house. I know we’ve been through hell and high water, but I don’t regret it. I cried a lot of tears; I’ve been through a lot of pain, but I don’t regret it. Everybody just say, «I don’t regret it. I don’t regret it.» Should I say that? Because I know firsthand that when God asks us, you, me, and I know He has, to sacrifice something, it becomes extremely difficult to comply. I get that all of us want to appear to be obedient; I know we want to seem to listen to everything that God says. I know we want to appear as if we have everything in order. But can I just volunteer for all of us and say that we sometimes hear what God says? But is it not true that there is this perpetual argument in your mind that makes you believe that in some way, shape, form, or fashion, even after God says something, that you’re smarter than He is? The person who had to go to school to learn, like you and I; the person who had to go from elementary to middle school, to high school, to college-some with bachelor’s, some with doctorates, some with master’s- all of that knowledge. We serve a God that has inexhaustible wisdom; when He says something, it has to be. You 're talking about a God who said, «Let there be light» when there was darkness. See, things become what God says. If you’re honest, and I will be for all of us, sometimes it is difficult to comply with God when He gives us His command or His word. But let me give you a scripture: Matthew 26, verse 41. Matthew 26: 41 says, «Watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation.» Here it is-are you ready? The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. See, most of us know Matthew 26: 41, but we only know the latter part of the verse, «The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.» But there is context to the entire text. First of all, He says, «Watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.» Again, as I stated, in the face of instruction, the mind has a tendency to argue as if it knows more than God. Now, when your decision collides with God 's plan for your life, you must listen. Walk with me; we’re teaching today. You must walk in the understanding that when God gives you an instruction, you must make a conscious decision to exercise obedience. Now, I know everybody wants to be obedient. I want to be obedient, but I want to disarm you. The church has us believing, or maybe the teachers of it, or perhaps the enemy-I’m not sure-but there is some power that has us believing that we can be obedient to God out of our own volition. But there has to be a cognitive choice to be obedient to the will and to the word of God. Why? Because the spirit is willing, but unfortunately, we’re not all spirit; we’re also flesh. So there is this constant battle between the willingness of the spirit and the weakness of the flesh. Don 't let anybody tell you anything different. That 's the battle between every bishop you know, between every priest you’ve ever prayed to, between every preacher you’ve ever shaken hands with, between your mentor, the one you respect. That 's the battle between the richest and the wealthiest people in the world. Because your money, your title, and your status do not exempt you nor extract you from the discipline of understanding that there is a battle between my willingness and my weakness. The more God has for you, the more weakness the devil wants to inflict on you. So as we walk through this, I wanted you to know that there is a critical decision in your life. Listen to me: the Lord told me this, and He told me to tell you this. He told me it in such precise words that I had to write it down word-for-word to make sure that I did not give you my prophecy or my opinion, but I gave you the words as they were given to me by the Lord. Here 's what He says-are you ready? This is what God told me to tell you. He says there is a critical decision that you are going to have to make before this year is over that requires your attention. Listen, but you will not understand what you’re choosing. Listen: there is a decision that you’re going to have to make before this year is out, and you will not understand your choice. You 're going to confuse yourself; you’re going to stress yourself. Some of you will cry night after night; some of you will go through pain day after day because there is a decision that you’re going to have to make, but you will not understand what you’re choosing. Here is what He told me to tell you: it’s a decision that will require you to abandon what you already had in mind. There is a decision that you’re going to have to make that will ask you to abandon your original inclination. Why? Because the thinking that brought you to this place will not be the same thinking that will take you to the next place.
