Psalm 139. If you have a Bible today, tell somebody, «I’m glad you made it to church.» Psalm 139 is where we’ll be. Yes, indeed! I want to talk to you today from the subject, «I was made for this.» I was made for this. What were you made for? Why were you made? Out of all the people who didn’t make it, you made it! I don’t just want to know what you were made for, but how come you made it? Ever since 1973, anyone born after that could have been legally aborted. How come you didn’t get aborted? How did you make it out? Do you know the complexities of coming through a birth canal safely? Do you know how miraculous that is? How come the cord didn’t choke you? All the babies that died in the crib—how come you rolled around with your wild self and still made it? I still haven’t gotten all the details of this story; they are still coming together. My brothers explained a little more to me, so I’m going to give you the version that I understand. When I was a kid, my brother and I were living with our mother. Our father didn’t live with us. There was a friend of my father whose wife and daughter invited my brother to go to Six Flags in Georgia. We had never been—it was an amusement park—and we were going to ride from Maryland to Georgia with them. I remember distinctly that I didn’t want to go, and in order to get there, our father had to take us to meet this family and then drive down with them to Georgia. I didn’t want to go. I don’t know if my mother and father were disagreeing, but my mother said, «Well, don’t make him go.» So, you know, that was to my advantage. I didn’t want to go, so my mother said, «Don’t make him go.» Therefore, my brother couldn’t go, and I couldn’t go. We didn’t get a ride to their house, and it turns out they left without us, and everyone in the car was killed. I didn’t even know the Lord! See, it’s one thing to appreciate the fact that you made it when you knew the Lord, but if you look back over your life when you weren’t even thinking about God, He had you on His mind. Why did you make it? I’m amazed that some of you have been in accidents where the car didn’t make it, and you walked out. How could a car weigh 4,000 pounds and not make it, while you, at 150 pounds, walked out? That ain’t nothing but God! You fell asleep behind the wheel and rolled off into another lane and didn’t hit anything. Some of your cars flipped over, hit concrete walls, dozed off, and you don’t even know how you made it home sometimes. Some of you have been so high and so drunk that you don’t even know how you made it home that night, but the Lord was watching over you. Don’t act churchy right now; I’m getting in your business! I want to know how you know you made it. Why did He let you make it? And then, why did He make you? In Psalm 139, the Bible says, in verse 13, let me turn to it because I don’t want to depend on the screen. In Psalm 139, verse 13, it says, «You made all the delicate inner parts of my body.» Somebody say, «You did it!» «And knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous; how well I know it.» You made me, God! You made me! You made me! God made you! Listen now, He says, «You made me!» In verse 13, you could say He knitted me together like He embroidered us. Every single ligament, every tendon—He put it all together. We could not have just big banged our way into these complex anatomical structures that we have. You have a brain that sends messages to your hands and tells them what to do. Your mind thinks and comprehends like that. You have toes, and everything is symmetrically put together, working in harmony as a system. We have a physical system that God put together, and He made us like that. Then, verse 14 says, «I thank you for making me like that.» One of the first things you ought to do in gratitude for the fact that God made you is thank Him for making you! God, I thank You for making me! Somebody ought to praise God right now for me! God, I thank You for making me! I thank You for making me! Stop complaining about what you don’t have: «I wish I was light-skinned, wish I was dark-skinned, wish I had good hair, wish I had some hair, wish I had long hair.» Thank God that you made me the way you made me! With all of my insecurities, all of my insufficiencies, and all of my brokenness, thank You for making me the way You made me! You did a good job on me, God! Somebody ought to give God praise right now! You did a good job on me! I might be sensitive, but I thank You! I might be a little crazy, but I thank You! I might be a little off, but I thank You! I thank You for my creativity! Thank You for my eyes! Thank You for my ears! Thank You for my mouth! Thank You for my feet! Thank You for my legs! Thank You for my nose! Thank You!
