My subject today is «God’s Got a Plan.» This is part two of our series, «God’s Plan.» In part one, we looked at God’s promise, and today we’re going to examine the fact that God has a plan. Somebody say, «God’s got a plan!» I don’t know how to make this «God’s Got a Plan» look cute, but I don’t know if it’s gonna work. God’s got a plan; it may fall. God’s got a plan. In fact, do me a favor and help me preach this: just touch three people around you and say, «God’s got a plan.» Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! Even when it looks like He doesn’t know what He’s doing, He’s got a plan. Even when things are crumbling around you, He’s got a plan. Yeah, yeah! When the world is in chaos, He’s still got a plan. Whether the president is impeached or not, He’s still got a plan. Whether the money comes in or not, He’s still got a plan. Whether your mother gets healed or she dies, He’s still got a plan. Whether your children are acting right or acting crazy, God still has a plan. I don’t care what’s going on in your life right now; God’s got a plan. That’s a good word right there: God’s got a plan. And because God’s got a plan, I don’t want you to hold onto this word as if it’s like a plan we have. I don’t want you to think about how God’s plan is like our plan, because if we have a plan, it can fail. Our plans get forgotten; our plans can get lost in circumstances; our plans can get lost in the shuffle of life. But when I say God’s got a plan, God’s got a plan that’s unstoppable. God’s got a plan that’s unformattable. God’s plan cannot be contested; it cannot be countered. The gates of Hell cannot prevail against it. If He said it, it’s going to happen. Whatever the Lord says, it’s coming to pass. I found somebody and said, «He’s got a plan.» Yeah, God has got a plan. He’s got a plan; He’s got a plan; He’s got a plan; He’s got a plan. And He’s not just got a plan for the people of Israel; He’s got a plan for me. Somebody say, «God’s got a plan for me, for me, for me!» You know what that means? If God’s got a plan for me, nothing is random in my life. Stuff can’t just happen to me; God’s got a plan. You can’t mess with me just because you want to; God’s got a plan. I can’t just get sick for no reason; God’s got a plan. My money can’t get funny for no reason; God’s got a plan. The devil can’t even mess with me for no reason; God’s got a plan! Somebody give God praise that He’s got a plan and His plan is greater than my own. God’s got a plan; I’m in His plan; I’m in His plan; I’m in His plan; I’m in His plan. Thank you, Lord, for Your plan! Thank you for Your plan! Thank you that You aren’t freestyling with my life! Thank you that You aren’t kicking it in the garage with my life! Thank you that You have designed, organized, and orchestrated my life according to Your divine purpose and will. God’s got a plan! You may be seated. God’s got a plan; God’s got a plan; God’s got a plan. Yeah, yeah! He’s got a plan! This verse of scripture in Jeremiah 29:11 is a very popular one among people of faith. It is often quoted and often referenced. «I know the plans,» the old King James says, «I know the thoughts that I think toward you, and I know the plans that I have for you, ” plans to prosper you, not to harm you; plans to give you a future and a hope. It is often quoted. Pastor Jeff, I’ve noticed that it is often quoted like most scriptures are quoted in isolation. Most people, when they refer to a scripture, do not quote the entire paragraph or the entire chapter. Most of us land on a verse, and typically, those who quote this verse usually refer to things like purpose and destiny: „I know I’ve got a purpose because God’s got a plan for my life, and I know my destiny is good because God has given me a plan and a future and a hope.“ That’s not a bad application of this verse; in fact, I think it is appropriate to apply this verse that way. However, when you don’t know the context in which this verse is housed, you can miss out on the original intent of the verse. This verse is part of a letter. Remember, I said it’s a letter. This letter came from Jeremiah, and Jeremiah wrote the letter to people who were in trouble. Elder McCorkle, that’s very important to understand. Jeremiah is writing to people who are exiled; he is writing to people who have been thrust out of their comfort zone, removed from their home and homeland, and repositioned into an environment where they are uncomfortable, uncertain, and unhappy.
