James 1:21 says we are to lay aside wrong thinking and receive with meekness the engrafted or implanted word, which is able to save our souls. This verse is not necessarily talking about eternal salvation. The word “save” here means delivered. And the word “soul” refers to the mind, the will and the emotions. James instructs us to intentionally lay aside any thought that does not line up with Scripture, and allow God’s Word to deliver, rescue and transform our mind, our will and our emotions.
