There are three different kinds of baptism in the New Testament. The first baptism is performed by the Holy Spirit, the second is performed by Jesus, and the third is performed by believers. The book of Acts is not just a history book, but a pattern book, providing us with a model of what the Church is and what it is called to do. In this book of patterns are examples of all three of these baptisms — the baptism into Christ, the baptism in the Holy Spirit, and water baptism.
