We’re in a series here on Wednesday nights called «Embracing Excellence,» and I want to talk to you from the subject today: the Law of Attraction. Now, when I say the Law of Attraction, I don’t want you to assume that I mean something that others refer to when they use this phrase. I believe in redeeming certain phrases, so I knew that utilizing this term would cause some people to think that when Dr. Darius mentions the Law of Attraction, he refers to some philosophical or ideological cosmic approach to living where things just magically happen. I don’t believe that. I don’t believe in the powers of the universe; I believe there’s a power greater than the universe that actually created it. The universe exists in time and space and has matter. Whatever created the universe cannot be made out of what the universe consists of, right? So if the universe has time, space, and matter, whoever created it must exist outside of those components. To me, that is God, who is bigger, more powerful, and more personal than the universe. So when I talk about the Law of Attraction, I don’t mean it from the cultural perspective; I mean it from the kingdom’s perspective.
And what does that mean, Dr. Darius? Because we’re in a series on excellence. That’s right, and here is one of the things we’ve been attempting to articulate: excellence, ladies and gentlemen, is an expression of godliness. When we say «godliness,» most people reduce it to goodness. Does that make sense? Most people think that living godly just means living good. When you have that reductionist view of godliness, you entirely disconnect yourself from all the other expressions of God that exist. Is God good? Yes. Should we strive to be as good as possible? Of course! But God is more than good; He is wise. So we should also walk in wisdom, right? And God is also excellent, so we should be excellent because excellence expresses godliness.
What is excellence? We define it as doing the best you can with the resources you have available. All God expects of me is to properly manage and steward what I do have, not what I don’t have. I’m going to say that again: all God expects of me is to properly manage and steward what I do have and not be consumed or overly concerned with what I don’t have. That’s what excellence is. Excellence is really a commitment not to waste the potential that God has given you. Somebody put in that chat, «Nothing wasted, nothing wasted!» Yeah, that’s what excellence is; it’s a commitment to say, «I will not waste what God has given me,» because to waste or mismanage what God has given me is to tell God, «I can’t be trusted with Your generosity.» Did you hear what I just said?
Yeah, I want to trust God, but I also want God to trust me. If that’s you, put «me too» in the chat. Yeah, I want to trust God, and I want Him to be able to trust me. I want to be able to trust myself with influence. I want to trust myself to make an impact. I want to trust myself to generate income. I want Him to be able to trust me that I’ll do the right thing the right way. I want to be the kind of person who not only trusts God but also the kind of person that God can trust. Excellence, ladies and gentlemen, is a trait; it’s not the only one, but it is a trait that marks us as trustworthy.
Think about this: is it easy to trust someone you know will only do a half-hearted job? Come on, guys! Right? I mean, it’s kind of hard. But when you trust that someone will do something, you feel at ease, knowing they will do it well. If someone has demonstrated a degree of excellence in a certain area, that excellence eases your anxiety, doesn’t it?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is one of the reasons excellence is so important. I think it’s one of the most important qualities we can possess. It increases our effectiveness and honors God, and this is one of the reasons the enemy attacks it. Oh, watch this: the enemy attacks our effectiveness by undermining our excellence. I said the enemy attacks our effectiveness by attacking our excellence! So excellence is essential; it is important. I want to go down that rabbit hole, but what I want you to see here is that excellence is attractive.
What, Doc? Yes! Excellence—operating in excellence—is the kingdom Law of Attraction. Did you hear what I just said? I said operating in excellence is attractive. So operating in excellence is the kingdom Law of Attraction. An amazing example is found in the book of the Bible called First Kings, chapter 10. In First Kings chapter 10, Israel is under the leadership of a king named Solomon, who is dubbed and designated as the wisest man who ever lived and one of the wealthiest men ever to exist. There was another governmental official named Sheba, and I won’t even delve into that because there’s so much to unpack. It’s significant because even a scripture like this…
