I want to launch into today’s lesson by highlighting three laws that I believe are essential to what I’m attempting to articulate over the course of these next few weeks. For my note-takers, here is the first law: it is a life law that I’ve affectionately entitled «The Law of Adjustments.» Here it is: I’m going to see how many amens I get on this one: If I am unwilling to adjust, I’ll be unable to elevate. In other words, family, listen to this: something that we want is often on the other side of an adjustment we are unwilling to make. The enemy understands this, so he attempts to infect us with inflexibility. He wants us unyielding because he knows that if we’re inflexible, we will be unable to advance. But I want to know, am I talking to anybody in any location that has embraced this truth in this season? If I want to go further, I must be flexible because my elevation is on the other side of an adjustment the enemy doesn’t want me to make. All throughout scripture, we see examples of individuals who were inhibited in their advancement because, or could have been inhibited in their advancement because they were inflexible. There were people who couldn’t advance because they were not willing to or were hesitant to make adjustments. I don’t know who this is for, but this is your season for adjustments. This is your time to adjust! Come on! This is the season where you marry the mission but date the method. Come on here! You marry the result but date the way. This is a season where you don’t miss your miracle because you’re loyal to an inferior thing. I don’t want to be loyal to a path and miss the promise; I’m loyal to the promise, and God, you show me the path. Let me put it this way, let me phrase it as they would at the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Kilmichael, Mississippi, where I grew up: «Any way you bless me, I’ll be satisfied.» God, I don’t care how you do it, just get it done! I don’t care if you split the Red Sea—get it done! I don’t care if you knock down Jericho’s walls—get it done! I don’t care if you turn my rod into a snake—get it done! I don’t care if you bring water from a rock—get it done! I don’t care if you use a brook called Cherith or a woman in Zarephath—Lord, any way you bless me, I’ll be satisfied. But sometimes, the result you want is on the other side of an adjustment you’ve been unwilling to make. The second life law that I want to lift up in our time together is the Law of Appetite. Here it is: I’m going to see how many amens I get on this one. The Law of Appetite says this: My elevation is determined by my actions, but my actions are a reflection of my appetite. That’s right, that’s right! My elevation is determined by my actions, but my actions are a reflection of my appetite. In other words, my actions aren’t just a method to what I want; they are a mirror of what I want. My actions might be telling me that I don’t really want what I say I want, in the way I actually want it. Because if I truly wanted what I say I want in the way I actually want it, then my actions would reflect that because my appetite would be for that thing. And this is why—are y’all all right? I said, are y’all all right? Yeah! See, and therefore, when God gets ready to elevate any area of our life, He begins by adjusting our appetite. Come here! One of the ways He adjusts our appetite is through something I call the principle or the Law of Exposure. Exposure awakens in you an appetite for something that you didn’t previously desire because you didn’t know it existed. You didn’t want the next level because you didn’t know it was there. But once you found out there is one, the way you set up, I gotta have it! Yeah! You didn’t want another dimension because you didn’t know it existed, but once you got exposed to it, you realized and recognized, I gotta have it. And when you don’t understand how God wants to use exposure, the enemy will trick you into mismanaging it, and you end up becoming jealous of what you’re supposed to be inspired by. Come on, come on, come on! Did you hear what I just said? Yeah, come on! This is important. When people don’t understand this, they confuse an appetite for more with greed, when sometimes it’s not greed; it’s God. I got Bible! Philippians says, «It is He who works in you to will and to do His good pleasure.» Not just the ability to do it, but the desire to do it. So come on here, so some «want to’s» are true «want to’s» you have because God gave you the desire. David said, or the Bible states, He gives us the desires of our heart. That doesn’t mean He gives us everything our heart wants; it means He’ll give your heart what to want. You want something I don’t want, and I want something you don’t want, and those unique desires are aligned with our unique destiny. So stop acting like you don’t want it because some «want to» God gave to you! I need somebody to break religious mental constraints and open your mouth and say, «I want it! I’m not ashamed of it; I want it!»
