John K. Jenkins Sr - Danger of Unrecognized Sin

I don't have a favorite book in the Bible, nor do I have a favorite verse because the more I read the Word and the more I go through the Scriptures, the more it speaks to our lives and gives us hope , solutions , and answers to what we face in life . However, the Epistle of First John is one of those books that is just jam-packed with important information . The author is believed to be the same person who wrote the Gospel of John and the other Epistles : this Apostle John . He writes as a senior believer to younger believers, trying to offer them advice , hope , and guidance on how to live the Christian life as it should be lived . As a matter of fact, he says in chapter 1, verse 4, " I am writing these things to you so that your joy may be full." How many of you know that having full joy is important for living the Christian life? Nehemiah says, "The joy of the Lord is our strength." It's tough to live a Christian life without joy ; in fact, nothing is worse than seeing a person who claims to be a Christian looking dried up, with a prune face and no pleasure or delight. I don't want to be around anyone like that; I want to be with people who are experiencing the joy of walking with God . He says, "I want to tell you what you need to live a joyful Christian life." He states, "I am writing to you so that your joy may be full." But he also says in chapter 2, verse 1, "My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin." Did you see that? Chapter 2, verse 1: "These things I am writing to you so that you may not sin," so that you won't keep tripping up. Did someone on your road trip up this week? Go ahead, look up and down the road and see if you can figure out who it is. As a matter of fact, I noticed that none of you looked to your left or your right, and it might be because you realize that you are the one!
