Touré Roberts - The Anointing - Part 2

As you know, last week we started a series called «The Anointing,» and we had our first week, which was solely dedicated to introducing the concept of the anointing. This week, we’re going to delve deeper, but I always like to do a quick recap just in case you weren’t here last week. That message, pun intended, was anointed, and you want it in your life. We will continue building on this, and I don’t know how long God will have me on this, because the anointing is so great and powerful. There is nothing in life greater than being anointed. We are going to talk about it, learn it, and understand it, and I believe we will come out of this experience walking in the anointing and in greater dimensions of it, because I believe that the times we’re in right now call for great anointings.

So, I want to pray, and we’ll dive right in. Father, thank you so much for your word; it is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Lord, I’m thinking about those who are watching right now, and I pray that you would touch and bless them. This is not just something to get them through another week; this is about their lives and relates to why you created them, why you formed them. So Father, may every distraction be moved aside even now, and may your sons and daughters be open in a way they are rarely open, so they might experience this grace you have set aside for them today through this word. God, feed us all—feed me—as I teach this word. Anoint me with wisdom, revelation, insight, and knowledge that I might be a gift and a blessing to those you love so dearly. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

I always like to, when I’m in a series, keep us all in step and on beat, in the same rhythm. So, I will do a brief recap of where we have come from before we move further into where we are going. Let me start by defining the anointing for you in case you weren’t here last week. The anointing is the incontestable, undeniable mark of God on a person’s life. It is indisputable. You may not necessarily like or agree with the person, nor be fond of all their unique idiosyncrasies—the things they do, why they do them, how they dress, and how they look. It may not be your style; it may not be your tradition, nor how you would do a thing, but you cannot deny it—in the midst of all your complaints or preferences being disregarded—you cannot deny when a person is anointed. There’s something about them; they stand out, and things just work for them. It’s amazing.

Thus, it is the incontestable, undeniable mark of God on a person’s life. As I mentioned earlier, there is nothing I would rather be in life than anointed. We discussed five things about the anointing, which I’ll run through quickly. One: the anointing can be despised but not stopped. Not only can the anointing be despised, but oftentimes anointed people find themselves in situations where they are also despised; however, they can never be stopped. Weapons are formed against anointed people, but those weapons cannot prosper, because there is no weapon that can prosper against the anointing. Are you tracking with me?

Two: the anointing doesn’t play fair. The way the anointing operates isn’t fair. The anointing can put you in positions you did not earn, into communities you did not earn, and into circles you were not groomed to be part of. It is not fair, and oftentimes that so-called unfairness attracts jealousy, which anointed people must navigate.

Three: the anointing levels the playing field and evens the score. For example, someone might have experience, but you have the anointing. I talked about how I do not have a degree in psychology or psychotherapy, yet my most recent book, «Wholeness,» is being used by accomplished licensed professionals to minister to their patients. I didn’t attend school for that, so the anointing levels the playing field. At the end of the day, what God wants accomplished, He will get accomplished, and if He anoints you, you will be equipped to be whatever God needs you to be for His purposes.

Four: the anointing will bring you before kings. I know the Bible says your gift will make room for you and bring you before kings, which is true. The ultimate gift is the anointing, and it will bring you…
