Hello, David Deer Hernandez here, and thank you for tuning in to another Spirit Church broadcast. Today, I’m talking about 12 truths of the anointing, and we’re going to be in 1 Samuel, Chapter 16. This is the part of Scripture where King David is anointed as king. At this moment, he’s a shepherd working in the fields, serving, tending, and performing his daily responsibilities. God is about to elevate him to a different level; He’s going to anoint him as king. As we go through this story, I’m going to point out that these aren’t the only truths about the anointing, but I’ll highlight 12 truths I’ve observed in this chapter.
As you’re watching today, I believe there are some people here who are asking God to anoint you for the ministry you’re involved in. You’re asking God for a greater anointing and for more power in your life. I believe God wants to elevate you to greater levels in the anointing. There are levels in the anointing, and anything you can grow in must have levels. If I can grow in the anointing, ministry, leadership, or education, it indicates that there are degrees and levels; otherwise, how can growth occur?
So, there are levels to the anointing. As you listen to this broadcast, whether you’re watching on YouTube, the app, or however you’re viewing this service, I want to talk to you about the anointing on your life. Every believer is anointed by God for a purpose, for something He has called them to do. I want to discuss the anointing, the power of the Holy Spirit in your life, and the 12 truths we see regarding the anointing in 1 Samuel chapter 16.
For those of you who have asked, I read from the New Living Translation of the Bible. We’re starting at 1 Samuel 16, verse 1. This is what the Scripture says: «Now the Lord said to Samuel, ‘You have mourned long enough for Saul. I have rejected him as king of Israel. So fill your flask with olive oil and go to Bethlehem. Find a man named Jesse who lives there, for I have selected one of his sons to be my king.’»
The Lord is instructing the prophet Samuel to go to Jesse’s house to anoint the king. In other words, Saul, the king currently in power, was rejected by God. He once had the anointing on his life; he once had the call of God to be king, but God rejected him.
What’s interesting, and this isn’t one of the 12 truths but worth noting, is that Saul was anointed by God. Saul was positioned by God and selected by the Lord to be king. Yet, he was removed due to his disobedience, pride, ego, and arrogance. God took him out of power.
From that first verse, we can deduce a few things. First, the anointing comes from God. I know this may seem trivial or obvious, but sometimes we forget. Many believers try to anoint themselves or proclaim something that’s not truly on their lives. They attempt to work through carnal efforts and fleshly actions to reach the position God has for them. However, God is the one who gives the anointing. He anoints kings, priests, pastors, evangelists, prophets, apostles, and teachers. God is the one who placed the anointing on your life, and only He can remove that anointing, as we saw with Saul.
Saul did not receive an anointing from a man. Although the children of Israel cried out for a king, and it seems God reluctantly gave them one, it was still God who said, «Saul, I will place you as king, ” and it was God who anointed Saul to carry the anointing and lead the people of Israel. It was also God who rejected Saul and said, „I will appoint David.“
So, the Lord selected David based on certain characteristics. God doesn’t just select any random person; there are specific qualities He looks for before anointing someone. There are disciplines in your life that you must possess before God says, „I will take you from this place to the next.“ Yes, you are anointed right now; you are operating in something, and perhaps you’re working in your church or doing ministry or witnessing at your job. For those things, God has anointed you, but He also allows you to grow in the anointing. It was David’s time to transition from shepherding to leading the people of Israel, and God was about to anoint him for that while Saul was being removed. So, God is the one who…
