So, we’re going to leap into part three of our series called «Unbreakable,» and I want to read a passage of scripture found in John chapter six, beginning at verse 65. This is what’s called, y’all, a hard saying of Jesus—a hard saying of Jesus—and I believe God’s going to speak to us through His Word. You know, speaking of speaking the Word, I want to encourage us to remember the power and the importance of affirmations. I think at some point, I need to do an exhaustive teaching on this. I think it’s really important. The Bible talks about the power of life and death being in the tongue, and what happens with affirmations is not a matter of the words affecting what is on the outside; it’s the words affecting what happens on the inside, right? So, what you say is more for you than it is for things. All right, so I think that’s important, and I just want you to affirm this. All right, affirm it because it’s truth, even if it’s not your experience yet. I just said something there—truth is truth, even if you’re not experiencing it yet, right? God is good; that’s truth. But there are times when we may feel like, «Man, I’m experiencing something bad.» But watch this: facts don’t change the truth, but truth will change the facts. So, the fact is I may feel like things are going terribly; the truth is God is good. But if I hold on to truth, my truth will change the facts. So, I just want you to affirm this because it’s truth. I want you to declare, «I am unbreakable.» I want you to put that in the comment section or in the chat right now: «I am unbreakable.» You declared it over your life. As we read God’s Word, John chapter 6, verse 65 says, «He went on to say, 'This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.' From this time, many of His disciples turned back and no longer followed Him. 'You do not want to leave too, do you? ' Jesus asked the Twelve. Simon Peter answered Him, 'Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.'» I want to pause right there, and I want to tag a title to this text. In week one, we talked about the unbreakable life requiring unbreakable faith. Last week, we taught you that the unbreakable life requires unbreakable focus. This week, as we conclude this series, I want to talk to you about this fact: the unbreakable life—here’s the title—requires unbreakable faithfulness. Now, I don’t give subtitles, but I’m giving you one today: it’s bad English, but it’s good theology. Put in the chat, «I ain’t going nowhere!» Yeah, it’s bad English, but it’s good theology. Put in, «I ain’t going nowhere!» Unbreakable faithfulness. Family, listen as we ease into this introduction. I want to preach a part of this passage that I believe exposes us to a word that I believe separates and distinguishes the good from the great, the ordinary from the extraordinary, the mundane from the major. It distinguishes and differentiates between fans of Jesus and followers of Jesus. It’s right here in the pages of this passage found in John chapter six. The word, the concept that I’m attempting to communicate, family, is captured in this word called commitment. Yeah, commitment, family. Listen to me—it is the key that unlocks the door to your next. It is the foundation of every great accomplishment. It is the bridge that you must cross if you want to move from proclamation of God’s promises to possession of God’s promises. It has been said, rightfully so, that motivation is what gets you started, but commitment is what keeps you going. Nothing works without commitment, family. A diet doesn’t work without commitment; a workout regimen doesn’t work without commitment; a budget doesn’t work without commitment; boundaries don’t work without commitment. Come here because it’s one thing to set a boundary; it’s another thing to hold it. It’s one thing to set a boundary; it’s another thing to keep it. Nothing works without commitment. Even your spirituality is an essential asset, listen to me, for experiencing God’s best. Because when you use the word commitment, the word commitment adequately and accurately describes God Himself. There are a number of words that we could use to describe the nature and the character of God, but commitment, family, is one that is extremely important yet often overlooked. Listen to me: the only reason many of us are sane in the membrane is not because we’ve been cool, calm, and collected; it’s because God has been committed. I said He’s been committed! All throughout scripture, He declares His commitment. All throughout scripture, we eavesdrop on individuals having conversations that indicate their revelation about the commitment of God. David got a revelation of God’s commitment, and he said in one of his psalms, «If I make my bed in hell, You’ll find me there.» Good God Almighty! David said, «When my mother and my father forsake me, the Lord will take me up.» He is committed! The sage named Solomon says, «Watch this: there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.» God is committed! And I think we ought to just pause for the cause and celebrate the fact that God is committed to you and to me. He’s committed! Watch this: but this is not just a trait that God possesses. Listen to me, it is a trait He encourages us to adopt, not because He needs us to, but because we need to. Commitment—y’all better come get me already! —commitment is to God, but it’s…
