Dharius Daniels - Can't Touch This

I want to start a series today real quick called «Stay in the House.» There’s a scripture in Exodus, chapter 12, verse 13, I want to share with you. Let’s read Exodus 12, verses 12 and 13, and then we’ll jump into this first message in the «Stay in the House» series. I know someone is thinking, «I’ve been in the house long enough; I’m ready to get out.» Hear me out, hear me out, hear me out. There’s a word, there’s something for you in the house. In Exodus chapter 12, verse 12 says this: «On the same night, » this is God talking, «I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn, both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on the gods, the false gods, the idol gods of Egypt.» Then He says, «I am the Lord.» Watch this, verse 13: «The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.» Yes, this is the Word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

I want to talk from this subject during our time together. Y’all, I’m not going to preach long, but I pray a strong «Can’t Touch This!» Ha ha ha! Can’t touch this. Family, on January 13, 1990, one of the most popular pop stars in American history named MC Hammer— all my Millennials are like, «Who is that?» You’ve got to Google him— released a signature single called «Can’t Touch This.» At the heart of this song, MC Hammer articulated the uniqueness of his ability, the uniqueness of his talent, and how no one could touch him when it came to his artistry. And because I was a Hammer fan, I agreed with him; nobody could dress like him, nobody could dance like him. But I was thinking about something as I was preparing for this preaching presentation, and it was this: Before Hammer said that about himself, God said that about us. I’ll say it one more time: Before Hammer said that about himself, God said that about us. It’s right here in Psalm 105, verse 15. Psalm 105, verse 15 says this: «Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.» I am telling you, wherever you are, whoever you are, you may not have heard of MC Hammer, but you’ve heard of the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last, the one who was, who is, and who is to come. And I want to tell you, He made a song about you. Hammer made a song about himself, but God wrote a song about you, and He says, «Don’t touch them!» This is God’s proclamation to be a protector of His people, and I want to know, is there anybody watching me that can look back over your life and say, amongst all else, that God has been to me, God has been a protector? He’s protected me from dangers seen and unseen, meaning He protected me from things I knew about and He protected me from some things I didn’t know about. This is why every time I come into His house, I’ve got to give Him praise for what He did, and I’ve got to give Him praise for the things He did that I don’t even know about. Let everything that has breath give God praise; God is a protector.

However, God’s protection— you’ve got to flow with me; I won’t be long today—God’s protection is tied to God’s principles. What does that mean? What does that mean? God’s protection is tied to God’s principles. In other words, if I want to experience God’s protection, it means I must align myself with God’s principles. I’ll say it again: If I want to experience God’s protection, it means I must align myself with God’s principles. You see, I’m a parent, and all the parents in here should be giving me an «Amen» right now. Whenever you give your children instruction, you are giving your children instruction for their restriction. They feel like you’re trying to stop them from seeing their friends and having fun. It’s not restriction; it’s protection. And if they follow your instruction, they will experience some protection. I’m trying to get us to see that God is a protector, but His protection is tied to His principles. I want you to hear this: There are times when God instructs His people to stay in the house. Whoa! Somebody better come and get me today! I know there are times when we hit seasons and spaces in our culture where everybody is talking about moving to the next level, going on up, and moving out and moving in. I want to tell you there’s not only a blessing in moving on; sometimes there’s a blessing in staying put. Did you hear what I just said? I am trying to tell you that this particular passage here that we just read in Exodus is a powerful picture of what I’m trying to proclaim. In an era where people are leaving and leaping, I’m telling you there’s a blessing in staying put because the devil wants to move you off your square. Listen to this: There’s power in persistency, there’s power in consistency, there’s power in commitment.
