You cannot thrive without learning how to handle haters, and that’s what I want to discuss with you during our time together today—handling haters. Somebody has already sparked a fire in the chat, so you know what’s waiting for you. You are waiting for your next level, and new haters are part of that. Sometimes, new haters are not new people; they might be individuals who have previously been in your life but have evolved or devolved into a version of themselves that has always existed—you just never saw it before because your success never triggered it. This is part of what some of you are believing God for, so let’s walk through this because Nehemiah gives us a blueprint on how to handle it. I wanted to conclude this series with this lesson because I reflected on my own life and realized that I was taught how to get here, but I wasn’t taught how to manage what comes with being here. That is what this lesson is all about.
I want to jump into it with this sticky statement. Some of you need to hit that share button and text this to someone right now. If someone comes to mind, please text this to them. Why? Because, even if you are not where you want to be, you need to build the ark before it rains. Did you catch that? You don’t wait until it starts raining to build the ark; you build the ark before it rains. Therefore, you shouldn’t wait until you reach the space where you have to handle haters to learn how to manage them. You need to learn how to handle haters before you arrive at that place. This is what preparation is all about. This is, in part, the role of prophetic words and prophetic ministry. Of course, they are for exhortation, direction, confirmation, and encouragement, but they are also for preparation. What often happens in some spaces is that we receive prophetic words and start praising when God’s like, «I need you to prepare.» God didn’t give you the word just to praise; He gave it to you because He wants you to prepare. So Noah, I’m telling you it’s going to rain so that you can build an ark. Prepare! Joseph, I’m telling you there will be seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine so that you can prepare. This message might be prophetic in the sense that it is preparing you for what will be awaiting you because whenever there is elevation, you will experience some unexpected things.
So here it is; I want you to write this sticky statement down. Some of you need to even post this online—share it on Instagram, Twitter, or whatever platform you use. Just put this out there: Your ability to achieve your destiny is tied to your willingness to manage distractions. I’ll say that again: Your ability to achieve your destiny is tied to your willingness to manage distractions. Listen to me: distractions, in and of themselves, can’t delay you, deny you, or detour you. However, you can delay yourself; you can deny yourself; you and I can detour ourselves when we mismanage distractions. Am I making sense? To properly address distractions, we need to accurately identify them. Today, I’m trying to teach that distractions come in various forms. Often, they don’t show up looking like distractions; they show up as something else. Distractions always present themselves wearing different clothes. Sometimes, distractions resemble opportunities, so pay attention. Did y’all catch that? Some doors are trap doors. Just because all these doors are opening for you doesn’t mean every door is meant for you. Some doors might be good doors, but just because they are good does not mean they are God’s doors. If this is helping you, please put «already» in the chat—God is speaking to me already.
Distractions come in many forms, but I want to discuss two forms tonight that I think are incredibly important yet often overlooked. I really feel this in my heart. Please, even if you’re watching a replay of this, send it to anyone who comes to mind whom you think might benefit. You never know what people need. What I’m about to share is something I wish someone had taught me. Distractions show up in numerous ways, but the two forms I believe are highly impactful yet often overlooked are jealousy and envy. Did you hear what I just said? Distractions don’t present themselves as distractions. They always wear different clothes, and two forms of distraction that I think are essential to recognize are jealousy and envy.
