So we’re getting ready to start a series today. Right now, I want you to put it in the chat if you’re watching live. It’s called «Under Construction.» We’re going to be in this for a while, ladies and gentlemen, because watch this: you and I are under construction, and we want that construction to come to fruition. But we are also constructing some things. Is there anybody besides me who says, «I’m being built, and I’m also building some things»? Come on! I’m being built, and I’m also building some things. I’m building some things in my family, I’m building some things in my ministry, I’m building some things in my mind, and I’m building some things in my marriage. I am being built, becoming the best version of me yet, and at the same time, I’m building some things.
Now, watch this: some people are waiting until they are completely constructed before they start doing some constructing. In other words, they’re waiting until they are completely built before they begin to build some things. Yes, you don’t go to the next level; you grow to the next level. There are certain things you can’t do until you become the kind of person who can do them. But I want to tell you, you can’t spend your life waiting until your construction is complete before you start constructing some things. You’re going to be waiting your whole life because there’s always going to be stuff about you and me that needs to be fixed. The Bible even says in the book of Ecclesiastes that the person who is waiting for conditions to be perfect to do something will never do it. So I’m telling you, you need to learn how to do some things simultaneously. This is the ministry of multitasking. It means I’m being built, but I’m building something at the same time. I’m fixing me while I’m fixing it at the same time. If that’s you, I want you to drop in the chat right now: hello, hello, hello!
So we’re starting right now, man, with this lesson: «Under Construction.» Now, I want you to catch this; I want you to see where I’m going with this. The Bible is a book that uses a number of metaphors and analogies to explain God’s intentions for our lives. I’m going to say that again: the Bible is a book that uses a number of metaphors and analogies that describe God’s intentions for our lives. You will see animal metaphors and analogies used throughout scripture to depict and describe certain personality traits. Let me see if any of you are familiar with this: I’m going to say it first. If you’re familiar with this, I just want you to put «me» in the chat. Jesus said, «Be wise as a serpent, but humble as a dove.» If you remember that, if you’re familiar with that, put «me.» If you haven’t heard about it, don’t worry about it, but if you have heard that before, put «me.» This is important, right? Because the Bible is using animal analogies to describe human personalities. It’s saying, «Be wise as a serpent, but be humble as a dove.»
Come on! The Bible says, «Beware of wolves,» people who are predatory in sheep’s clothing. Predatory people don’t always immediately look like predators; sometimes, they look safe. It takes a season for their predatory nature to expose itself. So, are y’all following me so far? The Bible uses metaphors and analogies to explain God’s intentions for our lives. Now, if you’re part of my newest tribe that I just established—I’ll talk about this at the end—this newest tribe I just launched a couple of weeks ago is called Bible U. You understand some of this already. You know I talked a little bit about testaments and typologies in one of our trainings. I know some of you are familiar with Bible U; the course I developed is like, «Man, one course is not enough. I need to form a tribe just like I have a tribe called Daniel’s Dan that helps people with spiritual intelligence, emotional intelligence, relational intelligence, and leadership intelligence.»
I was called to build a tribe of people who are ready to understand, interpret, apply, and explain the Bible on a whole different level—people who want training in the areas of biblical studies, everyday theology; theology for the everyday person; theology, the study of God. So, everybody has a theology; some of you just have one that was handed to you, right? We help people understand God better, but we use everyday language. Church history—some people read stuff in the Bible and don’t even know what it means. Pharisee, they don’t know what that is. Passover—what is that? Pontius Pilate—Pontius who? What is that? So, some stuff you can’t understand in the Bible—they just need explanation, right?
And then apologetics, because the Bible’s got a whole bunch of complex stuff in it, doesn’t it? It’s like, you mean God said to kill babies? What? Women, children? What’s up with that? Oh, come on, Jonah, for real? A man was in the belly of a fish for three days and didn’t die? Come on, PD, you want me to believe that? So, like, apologetics, which means defense, is something we need to know so we can defend our beliefs against doubt. But then, some of you need to do better, and we need to get better at being able to defend the faith—in the face of skeptics and cynics.
