I’m going to talk about destiny lessons. I was just thinking about what I can share with you, and I want to give you seven lessons that I’ve learned about destiny over the last 15 years. I truly believe it’s going to bless you. My heart is focused on building, and in particular, it’s about building people. Because I know what’s inside you. I swear I know what’s in you. God showed me, when He called me, what lies within every person. So when I see you, I might look through you; I’m not looking at who you think you are, I’m looking at who I know you are. I will keep looking and keep speaking to what’s inside of you until I see it manifest. My intention is not to say, «This is all I learned; I’m so special.» No, my heart is to build you up. Now God has promoted me; I’m no longer just building individuals; now I’m building bodies of people. Hello, somebody! This is not just for me; it’s for you too. Because if your purpose and calling are only about you, then it’s not a real purpose, and it’s not a real calling. God is a Creator, and He has been building people and things from the very beginning. We were created in God’s image, so yes, we must be built up first, but we are being built up to build others. That’s your purpose. Right now, we don’t have to get too deep. You know I mean repurpose thinking is good, but we don’t have to overthink all that stuff. Your purpose is to be built and then uniquely use your gifts and talents to build others. Period.
So, I was nervous starting on a Wednesday night. I only invited a couple of people I knew wouldn’t come. I was so nervous! I went to a midday Bible study. I had to get my last little word and inspiration in. I attended a midday Bible study led by Bishop Jones. He was so impactful, and one of the things I learned from him was to embrace my distinction. What I was doing was different, and nobody could understand it. I felt the Spirit of God. Let me tell you; I was different. It was different, and I didn’t have much support for this different thing because the people around me had never seen it before. Most of the time, people will not support what they have not seen. Oh, I’m trying to help you! You even want to, «Can I get some support? Can a brother get some support?» No, most people don’t have the faith to support something they don’t understand. That’s why I was so nervous. Just because you’re not being supported does not devalue the fact that you’ve been called. God wants us to live in such a way that the only support our life needs is the weight of the word from the One who spoke it. Oh, I feel the Lord on that! I’m going to say it again: Sometimes, God will remove support so that your reliance will be on the support that comes from the weight of the word of the One who spoke it. Because if you begin to build your support system around anything other than God, it means that man can stop you from doing what God has called you to do by simply removing their support. I’m talking about destiny here. Destiny can be scary. There I was, nervous pulling up to the hotel. I didn’t know who was going to be there. I just cast my little net out there. A jackleg preacher without a church, no members, hadn’t even been ordained, just licensed to be called. I walked into the room, and there were 80 people there. Eighty people! I preached, and a few got saved. What I didn’t know at the time was that this was the beginning of something bigger than I could have ever imagined. The next week, it wasn’t 80, but I loved that because God showed me a glimpse of something. The next week, there were about 10 people. I don’t know if that meant I wasn’t good or what. A few got saved; hey, come on! The Bible says that there is joy in heaven over one, so now I threw three parties in heaven. The next week, it was about ten people. I want to give you seven things I’ve learned about destiny. The first thing I learned is that lessons are crucial, and I want to go through them. They could be up to 70. We have to learn to honor small beginnings. Oh, I feel the Lord! It is very rare that God gives you something big. Nobody can speak to you like this. In fact, I’ve never seen it happen. Even if God gives you something big, He wants you to make it even bigger. In comparison to what it is supposed to be or will eventually be, it is small. You have to learn to honor the theme when it’s small.
