I want to talk about the subject «The Sixth Sense.» Just clap your hands at every location if you’re ready for God’s word, «the sixth sense.» Family, there are a number of words that can be used to describe and depict what I believe the Scriptures teach: that God wants to do in and through our lives. But for the purpose of today’s preaching presentation, I want to lift up an adjective that I think is extremely important and yet often overlooked. Here it is: God—what God wants to do in, through, and for our lives is strange. The word strange means unusual, unfamiliar, hard to understand, and not previously seen before. It is a picture of a principle I call the principle of exception, and this principle simply suggests that what happens with them does not dictate or determine what happens with me. Watch this: previous patterns with other people are not an accurate indication of a future possibility for me. Just because it hasn’t happened for most doesn’t mean it can’t happen for me. Just because it’s not common doesn’t mean it’s not possible. Why, Darius? Because God does strange things! God orchestrates anomalies, exceptions, aberrations, rule-breakers, and pattern shifters. God arranges head-scratching, confusing, confounding, conflicting blessings. God does strange things, and I can say this with confidence because I eavesdropped on a conversation that a preacher named Paul had with a congregation in Corinth. He says in 1 Corinthians, chapter 2, verse 9: «But it is written: 'Eyes have not seen, nor ears heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man'—don’t you miss this, family—the things that God has prepared for those who love Him.» I want to know: does anybody love Him? Come on, New Jersey! I said I want to know: does anybody love Him? I’m going to ask that one more time: I want to know: does anybody love Him? Well, if you love Him, He wants to do something for you that your eyes haven’t seen. If you love Him, He wants to do something for you that your ears haven’t heard of. He wants to do something for you that your heart has not conceived! Paul proclaims that God has prepared some things that our eyes haven’t seen, our ears haven’t heard, and our hearts haven’t conceived. God gives Paul a revelation of what He wants to do so that He can create a «want to» in Paul. God gives a revelation of what He wants to do in order to create a «want to» in you and me. He will tell us what He wants for us to awaken an appetite in us so that we start wanting for ourselves what He wants for us. Because it is not enough for Him to want it for us; if we’re going to get it, we’ve got to want it for ourselves. This might be the reason Jesus asked the man at the pool of Bethesda in John 5, «Do you want to be made whole?» The question isn’t, «Do I have the power?» The question is, «Can I make it happen?» The question isn’t, «Can I open doors no man can shut and close doors no man can open?» The question is, «Do you want it?» Because if you want it, I’m able! If you want it, I’m willing! If you want it, I’ll move mountains! If you want it, I’ll part Red Seas! If you want it, I’ll make Jericho walls fall! I want to know: am I talking to anybody that wants something strange? I didn’t come for normal people in this series because normal isn’t working! I came for some people who are expecting God to do some strange things in their lives. This series is for people who would say, «I’m not ungrateful for the past, but I’m expecting something better in the future.» This series is for people who will say, «I have nothing against common, but I’m self-aware enough to know me and to know common isn’t for me.» I don’t know who I’m talking to today. No, no, no, you’re not judging, you are not dismissing, and you are not insulting other people who want common. You’re simply suggesting that if they want common, they should get somebody else to do it, because there is nothing common about what I’ve been through. There’s nothing common about what I’ve overcome. There’s nothing common about what I have to survive. If I went through uncommon burdens, it must mean God’s getting me ready for uncommon blessings. This is why I can’t come to church and give God common expressions of worship, because He’s done some uncommon things in my life. How many want God to do some strange things? I look out among you, and I see what God’s doing to change the church. I was in New Jersey the Saturday before Easter, and the hunger for God’s presence and principles in Westampton was overflowing. Out of the overflow, we had to turn classrooms into overflow areas in the Northeast, where they say people don’t go to church. Strange! I need somebody to talk back to me. Come on, on Saturday night in Ewing, New Jersey, people were coming from New York, Massachusetts, and Maryland on a Saturday in the Northeast, where people say they don’t go to church. Strange! I’m looking at that South Convention Center with a five-month-old church that had to turn people away. Strange! How many know that God cannot put people with an uncommon destiny in a common house? Y’all missed it! The reason He’s connecting some of you to this house is that it takes one to know one. He said, «I’ve got to get you around people who want something uncommon, because if you have an uncommon appetite, and you stay around common people…»
