Dharius Daniels - Trap Doors

I want to talk about this subject during our time together: family, trap doors, clap your hands if you’re ready for God’s word. Trap doors, I want to start this teaching by offering an axiom that I think is extremely important but often overlooked. Here it is for my note-takers: the more gifted you are, the more options you will have, and the more options you have, the more discernment you will need. I’m going to say it again for my note-takers: the more gifted you are, the more options you will have, and the more options you have, the more discernment you will need. I can say this with confidence because I have observed the activity of Adam and Eve in the garden as they were influenced by the enemy, who showed up in the form of a serpent. This particular incident exposes us to this truth: when the enemy cannot destroy our life by getting us to mismanage our ethics, the enemy will attempt to destroy our life by influencing us to mismanage our options. In other words, when the enemy cannot destroy us with dysfunction, he will attempt to destroy us with distraction. It is possible that a diabolical distraction can walk into our life looking like an amazing opportunity. This is why we must see and sense when we step into a season where we can no longer make good moves. We’ve got to be able to see and sense when we’ve stepped into a season where we’ve got to make God moves. I want to know, am I talking to anybody who’s at a place in your life where you’ve had enough experience, enough adversity, enough irritation, and enough agitation that you’re at the point in your life where your testimony is: if God isn’t in it, I don’t want it? Did you hear what I just said? Yep, when you get to that season, you start asking different kinds of questions. You don’t just ask, «Who are you?» You start asking, «Who sent you?» Because if you didn’t come from God, return to sender. If this opportunity didn’t come from God, return to sender. If this door wasn’t opened by God, return to sender. I don’t just want good moves; I want God moves. I don’t just want good doors; I want God doors! Because if it’s a good door, that doesn’t mean it’s a God door. But if it’s a God door, once you get on the other side of it, it will not only be a good door, but it will also be a great door, a fantastic door, a mind-blowing door, a record-breaking door, a barrier-breaking door, an earth-shaking door. It will be a door that confuses your enemies; it will be the door that’s exceedingly, abundantly, and above all you could ask or think. I want to know, is there anybody here who has enough faith that’s not going to wait until you get in the door? Will anybody praise Him in the hallway? I’m going to see if this side will help me preach. I’m not in the door yet, but I sense I’m in the hallway, and I’m not going to wait until I get through the door. Somebody take 10 seconds and give Him a hallway praise! We need God doors! Because if it is a good door but not a God door, then for you it becomes a trap door. If it is a good door but not a God door, then for you it becomes a trap door. The trap door is destruction disguised as opportunity. It is an opportunity that is appealing initially but destructive eventually. It looks like a come-up, but in actuality, it’s a setup for a setback. Woo! And I don’t know about you, but I’ve had enough setbacks. As a matter of fact, let me see if I can get an honest crowd here: most of my setbacks were because I set myself back. I’m sick of setbacks! As a matter of fact, I’m announcing that setback season is cancelled. Setback season is over! I’m stepping out of setback season and I’m stepping into come-up season. I’m coming up; I’m coming out, and God is getting ready to come through for me. I don’t want just good doors; I want God doors. But there’s a challenge! I said there’s a challenge! I said there’s a challenge! 11:30, 11:30, I said there’s a challenge! Somebody ask the preacher, what’s the challenge? Here’s the challenge: on the outside, good doors and God doors can look the same. Both of these doors are red, but I don’t know what this red means. This red could mean a red flag, «Stop!» or it could mean a red light, «Stop!» or it could mean the blood. Are y’all listening to me? So this is why you and I, my brothers and sisters, need what I’m calling door discernment. My God! Because when we do not have discernment, we make decisions regarding doors with experiments, which means that the only way we’re able to see what’s on the other side of the door is by walking through it. Here’s the problem: when a door is a trap door, it’s easy to get in, but it’s hard to get out. I can get in it in a second, but I can stay stuck in a season because experimenting is expensive. I know we’ve heard the saying «experience is the best teacher.» That’s cultural, but it’s not Kingdom. That’s what culture says; that’s not what God says.
