Hey, I have a question for you. Do you want to walk on what other people drown in? In other words, do you want to be on top of what is on top of other people? Well, in order to have that kind of strength, you need spiritual stamina. I’m just telling you, spiritual strength is the most important kind of strength because your spirituality is the most important part of your life. It’s not the only important part, but it is the most important part since it affects every other part that’s essential. In this video, I want to help you develop a strategy for having a dynamic devotional life because that’s the only way you gain spiritual strength. So listen, one of my favorite scriptures in the Bible is the story where Jesus is literally having a miraculous encounter with His disciples. His disciples are in a boat in the middle of the sea. Jesus did not get on the boat with them; He sent them on the boat to another destination while He went to a private place to pray. The Bible says that in the middle of the night, the disciples see Jesus walking on the water. One of the disciples, Peter, says, «Lord, if it’s you, tell me to come to you on the water.» So Peter gets out of the boat, tries to walk on the water, and he does— for a second. He begins to sink when he takes his eyes off Jesus and puts his eyes on the impact of the wind. So Jesus picks him up and walks him back to the boat safely. Here is one of the many lessons we can pull from that passage: Peter tried to do what Jesus did in public without doing what Jesus did in private. Jesus had spent the majority of the night praying, so he was able to walk on water in public because he had spent significant time praying in private. Just like Peter’s experience with that boat walking on water, we can have that same experience in life. What do I mean by that? It is possible to drown in what we could be walking on because we’re trying to do what Jesus did in public without doing what Jesus did in private. I can’t be like Jesus in public if I’m not like Jesus in private. So, you know what is key and critical to that? Many people want to be closer to God; they want to be spiritually strong and develop spiritual stamina. The only way that happens is through what are called spiritual disciplines. Darius, what’s a spiritual discipline? It’s literally a spiritual exercise. There’s a scripture where Paul tells Timothy to exercise yourself into godliness. How do I become more godly? How do I become stronger spiritually? How do I develop spiritual stamina? By exercising. Just like if I want to get stronger physically, I need to exercise; if I want to get stronger spiritually, I need to exercise. Now, here’s what’s important about exercising: you’ve got to do the right exercises and do them the right way. I want you to think about some of the gym videos you’ve probably seen on social media platforms where people seem like they’re doing breakdancing with machines. They’re probably not getting results, I’m telling you, because you not only have to do the right exercises, but you also have to do them the right way. In this video, I want to teach you some key spiritual exercises that give you spiritual strength. We have to do the right exercises, and we’ve got to do them correctly. So I want to help you develop a dynamic devotional life. I’m about to teach you practices that I’ve implemented over 20 years, and they have revolutionized my walk with God. There is a zeal, a vitality, a passion, and a love for Him that I experience which is not decreasing the longer I walk with Him; it is increasing. I love Him more. I am closer to Him than I’ve ever been, and I hear Him clearer than I’ve ever heard Him. I believe it is because I follow the blueprint in scripture when it comes to spiritual disciplines, as that is the way I have a dynamic relationship with God— by developing a dynamic devotional life. I want to give you some components so that whenever you’re starting your day, or your night, or whichever segment of your day you choose to connect with the Father, I want to give you the framework that has worked for me. I’m going to pull all of these from scripture. The first one is worship; that is the first part of my devotional time. What does it mean? The word worship means to express worth; that’s literally what it means. It doesn’t just mean to feel gratitude; it means to express worth. So I don’t just wake up in the morning and open my Bible. I wake up and express worth. How do I do that? Music helps me do that, so I pick music that helps me connect to the Father. That’s going to be one of the first things I do because sometimes I don’t even sing the song; sometimes, the songs are singing for me. It’s like the songs are expressing the sentiment of my heart. So, I don’t begin my time with God by reading about God; I begin my time with God by…
