Dharius Daniels - How to Recognize and Develop Your Spiritual Gifts!

Listen to me. Do you know you have three types of abilities? Three? Yep, you’ve got three. You’ve got natural ability, which is talent. You’ve got acquired skill; these are competencies you’ve learned. And you also have spiritual gifts. You need to know how to use all three, but I want to discuss the third one: spiritual gifts. I want to share with you the importance of knowing how to use it in the marketplace. You have a marketplace mandate, and you need to use your spiritual gifts to fulfill it. I’m going to show you how in this video.

Listen to me: whether you know it or not, you have been blessed with an abundance of ability. Very often, when people talk about abundance, they refer to it in the context of assets—financial assets, real estate assets, digital assets, etc. But you have abundance in the area of your ability. There are three types of abilities that you possess. You’ve got natural talent, which is the talent you’re born with. You know how some families have members who can all sing? Now, talent has to be developed, but you can’t develop what hasn’t been deposited. Does that make sense? So, no matter how much training I do on singing, I’ll only get so good because I don’t have natural talent.

Then there’s acquired skill. This is where seasons or circumstances have required you to acquire certain competencies that you didn’t have. You know how some people are really good strategists, or some individuals excel at a specialty skill set? Well, that’s a competency. Like you’re watching this video; someone edited it. They didn’t come out of their mother’s womb knowing how to operate that software, but they had talent in creativity and an eye for it. That’s an acquired skill.

Then you’ve got something called spiritual gifts, and that’s what I want to talk to you about. I’ve found that, very often, people confuse their natural talent with their spiritual gifts, and you need to know the difference. God uses all three, but He uses your spiritual gifts uniquely. Knowing what your spiritual gifts are is really important because your spiritual gifts—more than your talent and more than your acquired skill—are going to be the greatest indicator of your life’s purpose.

Wow, see, you can have acquired skill and natural ability that you don’t always use, but God never gives you a spiritual gift that He doesn’t intend for you to use. There are a number of different opportunities for someone with the natural talent to speak or the acquired skill of speaking. They could be a motivational speaker, a teacher, or a lawyer. There are various paths you can pursue with an acquired skill or natural ability; you have options there. Right? But not everything you can do is something you’re supposed to do. However, when it comes to spiritual gifts, God only gives spiritual gifts that He intends for you and me to use.

So, first of all, let me be very clear on what they are, and then I will discuss where they should be used. In some other videos, I’m actually going to go through some spiritual gifts and show you how these gifts can be used outside the four walls of the church. See, they’re supposed to be beneficial. Listen, when you get better spiritually, everything gets better. Spiritual life isn’t the only important part of your life; it is the most important part because it affects every other area that matters. But you don’t get stronger spiritually by accident; it takes intentionality. You need to get fed, and you’ve got to learn how to understand, interpret, apply, and explain the Bible. The Bible is the blueprint to your best life, and I’m telling you, Sunday is not enough to give you the tools you need to grow in your understanding of the Bible.

Here is a working definition: a spiritual gift is a special ability deposited into the life of a believer by the Holy Spirit for the purpose of accomplishing their life’s assignment in that season. So, listen to me when I say «special abilities, ” like spiritual gifts. We call them gifts because, like the word „charismata,“ another term is „pneuma.“ But „charismata“ comes from „charis,“ which means grace, and „mata,“ which means gifts. So, they are grace gifts. We don’t earn these; these are just abilities given to us by the Holy Spirit. They are a manifestation of God’s grace. God’s saying, „You didn’t earn it; you don’t deserve it, but I’m giving you these abilities so you can carry out your life’s assignment in this season.“ I want you to catch this.
