John K. Jenkins Sr - The Journey to a Double Portion

This is part two, and so I've subtitled today's message "The Journey to a Double Portion." Somebody said there's a journey to a double portion. I'm not sure where you all are, but I'm claiming and believing that 2013 is a year when God will give us double. Yes, I'm believing it! I believe God's going to bless us with double; I believe our church is going to have double. Amen! I am believing God for double-twice what could be expected, twice the norm! I'm expecting twice the number of people to get saved and twice the number of people to get delivered and healed. I believe this will be the year of the double portion , and we derive our position on this from the word that God has spoken to me . We are moving forward; God blessed us in 2012, but in 2013, He's going to take us to another level of that favor and blessing , and that level will be a double dose. Somebody look at your neighbor and say, "Double, double, double-Dutch, double dip , double mint!" He's going to give you double for your trouble. Job lost everything he had - his children, his wealth , and his health. When we get to chapter 42 , the end of Job, verse 10 says God gave him twice what he had. Somebody needs to understand that all the hell you've been through , God is going to give you double for all the trouble that you have faced. I wish I had a praying crowd with me here today-that's what I believe God's going to do . This is our season for a double portion blessing , a double blessing, but it's a journey. It's going to take a journey to get there. We derive this message from the story here in Second Kings, when Elijah , the teacher and prophet, has a school. In his school, he has a number of students, including a particular student named Elisha . I don't want you all to get confused; there's an Elijah with a "J" and an Elisha with an "SH." Elisha and Elijah hung out together . I talked on New Year's Eve about how Elisha followed Elijah, going wherever Elijah went . Just before Elijah was taken away from Elisha , Elijah said to Elisha , "What do you want before I'm gone?" Elisha asked Elijah for a double portion of the anointing that was on him . That 's a blessing right there ! I love it because he didn't ask for money , fame , or anything material. He recognized that what Elijah had on his life was something money could not buy . Oh my God, I wish we had people who could see that some things in life are more important than money , a career , a car , a house , or, excuse me for a second , a man or a woman. There are some things that matter more than material possessions. Elisha said, "If I can get the anointing that's on your life, if I can get a double portion of the favor on your life, I can get everything I need in this life." I wish you could grasp that truth and revelation- that if God were to put a double portion of His anointing on you, there's nothing in life that you would lack. He asked for a double portion . Somebody say, "I want a double portion !" Elisha saw in Elijah's life that Elijah lived in an atmosphere filled with miracles.

I love the 12:00 service; I can take my time and talk about things the way I want to! I always have to rush at 8 and need to hurry to get out at 10, but at 12, I can take my time. I love it ! You shouldn't have come to this service, 'cause I'm not going to stop till I finish talking ! I can address these topics the way I want to and talk about the fact that Elijah lived his life in the realm of the supernatural . There 's nothing like living life where God opens doors that only He can open. Living life with miracles as the norm and not the exception - he lived a life of God's favor! Sixteen supernatural miracles were performed in Elijah's life, and Elisha saw that in Elijah . He said , "I want a double portion of that." The text tells us in 2 Kings chapter 2 that he asked for a double portion . Elijah said, "You 've asked a hard thing, Elisha, but if you see me when I'm taken away, you'll have it." When he was taken away , Elisha saw Elijah ascend, carried away by a chariot and horses that swooped down and took him away . He saw it! The mantle of Elijah fell on Elisha. Elijah performed 16 miracles, and in the life of Elisha , he performed 31 miracles. Now, I know that the 12:00 crowd is a little slower than the sophisticated 8:00 crowd, so let me go ahead and tell you that 31 is one more than 16.
