We are very pleased to invite you to watch this amazing must-see, «When you’re the only thing left» sermon by the Lighthouse Church. Come and Join us! You are the only one of you that is left in this Earth. Watch as Pastor Keion Henderson uses the story of King David and Mephibosheth in 2 Samuel 9:1-5 to show you how your differences are what God uses to elevate your life to a higher level.
Second Samuel, Chapter Nine, beginning at verse number one. Second Samuel, Chapter Nine, beginning at verse number one. Then David asked, «Is anyone still left in the house of Saul, so that I may extend kindness to him for the sake of Jonathan?» Now there was a servant from Saul 's house named Ziba, so he was summoned to David, and the king asked him, «Are you Ziba?» He replied, «At your service.» The king asked, «Is there anyone left from the house of Saul that I may extend God 's kindness to?» Ziba said to the king, «There is one left, but both of his feet are crippled .» The king asked, «Where is he?» Ziba told the king, «He is in the house of Makir, son of Amiel, in Lo-debar.» So King David had him brought from the house of Makir, son of Amiel, in Lo-debar. I want to go back to verse three, the B portion of it, when he asked, «Is there anyone left that I may extend my kindness to?» Ziba said, «There is one left, but both of his feet are crippled.» I want to talk on this subject: «When you’re the only one left.» Just touch everybody you can touch and say, «When you’re the only one left.» You may be seated in the presence of God. Thank you, Holy Spirit. There is an economic term that I want all of you to download into your lexicon: the terminology is «scarcity value.» Scarcity value is an economic term that conveys the idea that the lesser amount of an item there is, the greater value that item has. It is known in layman’s terms to most of us as supply and demand; whenever the supply is low, demand is high, and whenever supply is high, demand is low. The reason why, when you go into Walmart, everything is inexpensive is that they have plenty of everything on the shelf. When you have twelve thousand bars of soap, you cannot charge me a premium price because there is so much supply that if you don 't sell it to me at a price that I deem affordable, then I can go to somebody else because they have what you have. It is competition at its best; it is our capitalistic system that makes America what it is. The reason why the Hope Diamond is the most expensive diamond is that there is no other diamond like it. Not only is there no other diamond like it; it is not just that it is the biggest diamond, but it belongs to someone whom history will regard as unique, like the Queen- that there was only one like her. Whenever something belongs to someone who is not everywhere, whenever something is not repeated, then the value of that thing intrinsically rises because the less there is of that particular object, the more the person who owns the object can seek compensation commensurate to the value of the property. Is that making sense to you? The reason why a Ford costs $20,000 is because they come off the assembly line in mass. The reason why a Rolls-Royce costs a quarter of a million dollars is because it is handmade. One is made in 13 hours; the other is made in 13 months. They both have two wheels in the front and two wheels in the back; they both have two seats in the front and a bench in the back. They both have windshield wiper blades; they both have turn signals; they both have steering wheels. Yes, the leather is different, and yes, the craftsmanship is different, but there isn 't $300,000 more equipment in the Rolls-Royce than there is in a Ford. The reason why one car costs $20,000 and the other costs $300,000 is that Ford made a million of them, and Rolls-Royce only made a few. So they raised the price by proving scarcity. That’s why when you go to the store, the person selling you the item is trained to tell you, «There’s only one like it in the world. They only have three in Houston. They only ordered one size.» The reason why you go and spend several hundred dollars on the shoes is because they’ve made you think you’re going to be the only one with them. But do you know, after you spend $700 on shoes, they 're going to make another pair? There is not just one. Then that person is going to buy them, and they’ll make another pair. In fact, some of these stores actually have them in the back. When you go to boutiques, they put three on the rack and make you think there are only three of them. As soon as you buy that extra large or if you’re small, whatever your size is, they’re going to go back and get the same shirt and put it back on the rack. More people in this world fear the possibility of loss over the possibility of gain. The reason why you’re not being paid what you want to be paid is that you haven 't differentiated yourself from everybody else who does your job. If you go into your job tomorrow and show value that nobody else has, acquire skills that nobody else has, do something that nobody else can do, you will cause your employer to raise your salary. Because the moment they feel like if you leave, they can just get another you, they’ll let you go. But if they recognize that you’re indispensable, irreplaceable, and that you bring something to the table that nobody else can bring, they will raise your salary. Because watch this: your salary is always proportional to the size of the problem you can solve.
