Keion Henderson - Comfort is Coming

I sat there and I watched William. I watched the Lord use you in a mighty way, and as I was sitting there, I wondered to myself, you know, I’m at a quagmire; I’m at a fork in the road because do I let the Holy Ghost have His way as part of that move, speaking through you? Sometimes I’m left bewildered and then not needed because I’m aware that God doesn’t always need me to get the job done. I almost thought that such a moment was happening today, but the word that I have seems to coincide with what just happened. It doesn’t have to be long, but I don’t think He wants us to depart from this place without opening the book. I’m actually preaching from Job chapter 2. I sense that it would be good to stay if you need to leave, then do so; you are fine. It won’t bother me. I would love to see someone in the presence of the Lord for the whole sermon, you know, at the altar. They 're going to put it on the screen; I don’t know if you’re in a position to find it, but Job chapter 2, verse 11, here’s what the Bible says. For the next few moments, I won’t try to compete with what just happened, but I just want to give you this information because you’re going to need it. Job chapter 2, verse 11. The Bible says, «Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that had come upon him, they came.» You need somebody in your life that, when you’re going through something, they come. Without going into all of that, let me paraphrase it: the three friends got together. They had a friend in trouble, so they altered their schedules. It wasn 't that they didn’t have things going on, but they prioritized someone important- somebody was hurting. It 's not that the other three didn’t have problems; it’s just that what you have going on in your life is more important than what I have going on. I’ll forget about my issues to help you. I’m going to ask God to send you somebody like that. So watch this: all three of them showed up, and when they lifted up their eyes from afar, Job was so sick that they didn’t even recognize him. This will make sense in a while. What they did, the Bible says, is that they tore their garments. The mantle wasn’t something they just wore; they started ripping their clothes and putting dust on their heads. In those days, they even hired people to mourn professionally, which is why, if you grew up in the old church, they had something called the mourner’s bench. People were actually hired to mourn, and in those days, mourning was done differently than we do now. Okay, are you with me so far? They lifted up their hands toward heaven, and they sat on the ground with him for a week. I know people who will visit you today before the funeral, and then after the funeral is over. But they came and for seven days and seven nights they sat on the ground with him. Watch this: none spoke a word. Because every time somebody calls you, it isn’t always for your advice. Sometimes I just need you to sit with me, hold me, and listen to me. When I’m done talking, let me walk away without a half-hour-long explanation of what I need to do. Is anybody with me? Sometimes you just need to hurt without advice. This is what I want to talk about. Do me a favor and look at your neighbor and say, «Neighbor, the Holy Ghost just proved it, and the pastor is going to preach it.» Here 's the sermon title: Comfort is coming. Touch everyone you can on your way down and tell them, «Comfort is coming.» Mark my words, comfort is coming. Thank you, brothers. Y’all give me a hand; that’s excellent, excellent. I don’t know how this is happening. I’m going to skip the introduction and just admit that the Holy Ghost just introduced His own sermon because His will began the praise and worship, and called you to the altar. Many of you brought your problems to the altar, and when I was reading this text in the back, Pastor Torrance and I were sitting back there, and he said, «Ralph, you know we’ve got to have this meeting.» I said, «Well Pastor, I can’t do it. Can you do it for me today?» Because I’ve got to figure out what I’m going to say and how I’m going to say it. He and the MARTA said to me, «Really? You’ve got this. Don 't worry about it.» I told him, «But something doesn 't feel right today. I’ve got a strange feeling .» So even though I’ve got it, I told them, «Y’all are going to have to go do it because I don’t have the freedom to do what I came here to do .» I stayed in the office all day. Normally on Tuesdays, I have seven, eight, or nine meetings, but today I had one two-hour meeting, and that was it. They were looking for me; they thought I was going to leave the building. I said, «Hey, I’ve been here.»
