Nehemiah Chapter 8. Nehemiah Chapter 8. Nehemiah Chapter 8. I’m going to read verses 1, 2, and 3. When you get there, say, «I got it.» If you’re still looking, say, «Hold up.» Nehemiah Chapter 8, First Chronicles, Second Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah. Verse 1 says, and I want you to pay attention because I’m trying to accomplish something. If you notice, all of these sermons are lining up. Here 's what the first verse says in Chapter 8: «And all the people .» I could just stop reading there because the magic of Christianity has always been when all the people gather. On the day of Pentecost, the Spirit did not fully come until all the people were on one accord. Whenever you have discord in your life, it’s because you have people in it who are not on the same accord. See, Amari plays the keyboard and the organ, and Cody is on the lead. If they don’t play the correct notes together, then it will sound off because it won’t be in harmony. There are certain keys that cannot be played with others. They sound good on their own, but when you put them together, they don 't get along, and they are not on one accord. Some of you are good on your own, and the problem is you can’t make music because you are trying to create it with people who don’t agree with the harmony. This is what the scripture says: «And all the people,» somebody say «all the people.» Now, I can’t speak for any other church, but I do know that when it says «all the people», it’s talking about you and us. I can’t speak for anyone down the street, but all the people means the person next to you. So I want you to look at them so that they have no doubt about it. Say, «For the next few moments, he is talking about you.» And all the people gathered themselves together as one man. They came in individually, but they came together as one man into the street that was before the Water Gate. They spoke unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the Lord had commanded to Israel. And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation, both of men and women and all that could hear and understand. And upon the first day of the month, tell your neighbor, «I’m more than one thing.» You didn’t know that you could create your own harmony. You thought you needed help. A chord is a compilation of multiple keys, so you have to have two or three notes to create a chord. You understand what I’m telling you? Some of you don’t know enough about yourself to recognize that you’re both scribe and priest. If you would ever meet all of you, you could create your own harmony. Does that make sense? By the time today is over, I want to introduce you to yourself so you can stop looking outside of yourself for music. If you ever find your anointing and discover how much God has already equipped you, you can create music with the gifts He has given you. You don’t need anyone outside of you to define who you are; the person outside of you will complement you, but before you ever meet the other harmony, you’re still your own key. Does that make sense? Alright, so verse 3 says, «And he read therein before the street that was before the Water Gate from morning until midday before the men and the women and those that could understand .» I know today everybody won’t understand, but this is for those who can. Touch your neighbor and ask, «Are you going to be able to understand?» The ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law. I want to talk about the secret to elevation, the secret to elevation. You may be seated in the presence of the Lord. Without getting into a long introduction, I believe what I have to say is more important than a story. In reading the first seven chapters of the book of Nehemiah, for those of you who know this book, you know it best for the fact that they built a wall, and everyone knows that. I don’t count that as unimportant because if you got that, at least you’ve got something, amen. The first seven chapters of the book of Nehemiah concern the material needs of Judah because they needed a wall. Without getting into the conjecture of that history, context, and culture, they needed a wall for protection, and they had to build it. There are some divine implications in that, but that’s another sermon for another day. The most important part of this message is that for the first time in the book of Nehemiah, you see the man whose name the story bears, Nehemiah. In this Chapter 8, he begins to fade to black.
