Keion Henderson - Disturbing The Peace

For $100 million in release, we’re somewhere around $38 million that we’re still waiting on God to release, and I believe that you are next in line for a miracle. Just to let you know, today’s message is found in Philippians chapter 4:7. Instead of starting in a typical fashion, I’m going to begin with a question, then I’ll read the scripture. Hopefully, in the next 20 to 25 minutes we have together today, you will see what we’re building and how you can guard your own heart in times of trouble.

Here 's my first question: Are you tired of allowing the Devil to knock you off your assignment? That 's the question I want to put out there. You can fill in the blank by taking out «assignment» and asking, «Are you tired of the Devil using your past against you? Are you tired of the enemy causing you to backtrack when you know you’re in a season of progress?» However you want to end that sentence, I believe that Philippians 4:7 is absolutely the answer to that question. The Bible says, «And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.»

Now, for those of you who live in apartments or close quarters with other individuals -townhouses or even in city life- you may be familiar with the concept of «disturbing the peace.» This is actually punishable by law. Disturbing the peace is a criminal offense that occurs when a person or group engages in public behavior that is unsatisfactory to those surrounding them. It’s similar to fighting, but more specifically, it involves the non-consideration of noise and actions in relation to those nearby. There is a reasonable expectation that if I’m in a public setting, or if I’m in my personal space connected to yours, or if you live above me or I live beneath you, you should conduct yourself appropriately. You don’t have to be silent or mute, but there is an expectation that if we share space, you will do all you can to ensure that what you are doing does not impede on what I 'm doing and vice versa. Disturbing the peace occurs when a person’s words, conduct, or actions jeopardize another person’s right to tranquility.

I want you to understand that whenever you’re doing something, or I am doing something that infringes on our right to peace and tranquility, then that person or we are charged with a crime called " disturbing the peace» because everybody has a right to peace. So, let me return to my original question: Are you frustrated, tired, or fed up with allowing the enemy to knock you off your assignment or disturb your peace? I need to know your response to this question upfront so we can place the blame appropriately by the time we’re done. Raise your virtual hand if you are frustrated, tired, or at your wit’s end every time you try to make progress and the enemy shows up.

I see hands going up — just keep responding because I want to know who I’m talking to. Some people are raising more than one hand. That represents just about all of us. And for those who didn’t respond, you’re probably in a position where you can’t, but I know I’m talking to you; otherwise, you wouldn’t still be here.

My next question is, how easy has it been for the Devil to do that lately? Are you in a hyper-sensitive, panic-filled portion of your life where it has been easier for the Devil to knock you off your peace in this season? You would expect grown people to act like adults, but when they don’t, it makes you stop acting grown yourself, shifting you off your block. Suddenly, you start asking questions like, «I don’t know why they do dumb stuff,» or «I don’t know why he didn’t do this,» or «I don’t know why she didn’t do that .» These are all things the enemy uses that happen every day, by the way; sometimes, it’s not about what happens but who does it. Yet he uses it to disturb the peace of God, which prevents you from experiencing a peace that surpasses all understanding; then you can’t keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. Am I talking to anybody?
