Keion Henderson - When God Turns the Page

I want to address this next subject: when God turns the page, I want you to touch three people on your way down and tell them, «God’s about to turn the page on your situation.» You may be seated in the presence of the Lord. Cleo is right; sometimes, you can see life one way, and because it’s so consistent, you don’t think it could be another way. What some of us do is settle for the page we’re on. Some of you are on the depression page and just figure that’s the way it’s going to be. Some of you are on the underemployment page and think, «Well, this is not a lot in life; this is just how it’s going to be.» But you know God can’t do anything in your life that you don’t see coming. In other words, you have to see it before you see it. You need to have enough courage and faith to look your circumstances in the face and say, «I’m stronger than you.» There 's an old saying that we say all the time: let’s stop telling God about our problems; let’s start telling our problems about our God. I have been blessed, but I’ve also been embarrassed. I’ve been able to go into the grocery store and buy whatever I wanted, and I have had times where I had to browse in the grocery store. Who knows what I’m talking about? Has anyone ever had to make a list? And when you get in there, if you’ve ever been really broke, you have a calculator in your head, thinking, «That 's $2.55, $7.75,» and you 've got about $45 you can spend, maybe, and you have to make decisions about what you’re going to put back before you get up there. But you’re lazy, so you put ice cream on the counter, put bread by the milk, and then all of a sudden, God turns the page. You start saying things like, «I might not have everything I want, but I remember a time when I didn’t even have what I needed.» I believe that there are some people here right now who are at the next phase because you’re no longer asking God for needs; your needs are met. Some of you are saying, «God, I’m ready to turn that page because I used to not have needs.» Now, my needs are met. I need to get an overflow because I want to go from being blessed to being able to be a blessing. Am I right? As long as your heart is pure, you give God a canvas to paint on. The Bible says it was the heat of the day, 12:00 noon-sounds like the same time when He met the woman at the well. He comes at the heat of the day, and the birds are seeking the solitude of the foliage of the forest. The beasts of the field are panting in the sands of the ground, waiting for the next move. I had a 100-year- old man standing at the door of his tent, waiting on God to tell him what to do next. There are two types of people in this room today: those who are waiting on God to do something and those who are waiting on God to tell them what to do. I can’t judge you for whatever situation or circumstance you are in. For some of you, it may be heavy-laden; you may be weary, frustrated, tired, or panting as the deer pants for streams of water. So my soul thirsts for You, O God. You may be hurting, and that’s fine, but there is a portion of us-there is a section of us — a group of us — that are here today saying, «God, if You don’t do anything else, You 've already done enough.» Some people are saying, «God, I need a new house,» while others are saying, «God, thank You for the roof over my head.» Some are saying, «God, I need new transportation,» and some of you are saying, «God, thank You for what I have.» Some of you are saying, «God, I’m lonely,» and some of you are saying, «God, You are my strength.» Whatever your circumstance may be, God told me to tell you He’s coming today to do one thing: turn the page on your circumstance. But Abraham really gives us some clues and cues on what we should do in the meantime and in between time. Abraham should be arrogant right now because he has just gone from very poor to very rich. Abraham got ahead of God because God promised him a son, and he couldn’t wait. So, what he did was sleep with his maid, and they produced Ishmael. God then went silent on Abraham for 14 years. Hear the word of the Lord: sometimes God slows down because you sped up. Sometimes God will make you wait because you wouldn’t wait on Him. So, He says, " Abraham, I was going to give you a son, and you could have had Isaac by now, but you’re going to have to settle for Ishmael until I circle back around because you got ahead of me. I am only obligated to take care of what I gave you .» Is there anybody here who will be honest and admit you are asking God to care for something He didn’t give you? You 're asking God to bless something you didn’t even pray about or ask Him if you should have. God says that’s not in my wheelhouse; I don’t have to take care of what you’ve got without Me. Ishmael is your problem; Isaac will be My blessing-and if I go silent…
