There are no mistakes with God. What we call a mistake, God can turn into a miracle. Your mistakes can mess up your plans, but your mistakes cannot mess up God’s plans. Our frustrations, frailties and faults are not a surprise to God. In the book of Genesis, Ishmael seemed like Abraham’s mistake after God clearly told him Isaac will be his covenant seed. In Genesis 21, Abraham eventually kicks Ishmael and Hagar out with only bread and a bottle of water. However, in the wilderness God opened their eyes to see a well of water. In addition, God told turned Ishmael from just a man to a nation. Our mistakes don’t define us, they refine us.
For the next few minutes, I want to discuss a subject that speaks to the miracle in the mistake. Look at your neighbor and tell them, «Ishmael might be a mistake, but God knows how to work a miracle—the miracle in the mistake.» Whenever we hear the word «Ishmael,» we think about the mistake that Abraham made, but God knows how to create miracles out of mistakes. Amen! The miracle in the mistake. Look at your neighbor one more time and tell them, «There’s a miracle in the mistake.» Did they respond? Oh, you better find a neighbor who is going to respond because for the next 30 minutes, you will be doing that. So, look at your neighbor and tell them, «There’s a miracle in the mistake.» Did they respond? Did they say something? Okay, wonderful! That’s good.
The context of this story begins with God promising Abraham a son. God promised Abraham a son when Abraham was 75 years old. It’s important to understand this: God promised Abraham a son when he was 75 years old. You can kill the background; give me the plain background, please. It’s important—as I think it is—to know that even though God promised the child when Abraham was 75 years, it took about 25 years for Abraham to have Isaac. Abraham had Isaac when he was 100 years old, and Sarah was 90 years old. This foundation is very important for us because it’s essential to understand that when God gives you a word, it might take time, but the word that God gives you will come to pass.
This is important, church, because we shout about everything else but the word of God, yet you fail to realize that God and His word are one. So, if God gives you His word, He’s essentially giving you Himself. John 1:1 says, «In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.» The Bible informs us in verse 3 that all things were made by Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. Verse 14 tells us that this Word became flesh and dwelt among us. What God is trying to let us know is that I and my Word are one. If I give you my word, I’m giving you myself.
Why is this important? This is important because God is a keeper. Everybody say, «Keeper.» No, no, say it like you mean it—say, «Keeper!» When I say God is a keeper, I think it’s vital for you to understand that most of the time when we say God is a keeper, we think about God keeping us, and that is part of it, but that is not all of it. God is a keeper because He keeps you, and when God keeps you, it’s called protection. However, that is not all; God is a keeper, and He’s also a keeper of His word. God doesn’t just keep you; He also keeps His word. There is a difference: when God keeps you, it’s protection, but when God keeps His word to ensure His word comes to pass, it’s called manifestation.
This is important! God is a keeper! Look at somebody and say, «God is a keeper; God is a keeper!» By the way, let me just add this: God does not keep you or keep His word over your life because you’re perfect, but because His word is perfect. This is the shouting part! This is what you should shout about because some of us are not perfect, but somehow God keeps His word over our lives. So, God did not fulfill His word over your life or over Abraham’s life because Abraham was perfect; God fulfilled the word over Abraham’s life because His word is perfect. Can I introduce you to my Father? He is too faithful to fail! He is too faithful to fail!
So, Abraham—watch this—Abraham and Sarah experienced fruitfulness because of God’s faithfulness. What if I told you that God says, «I can make you full of fruits even when you’re not full of faith»? God says, «I can make you full of fruit even when you’re not full of faith.» Some of you are looking at your resume and your abilities. What if I told you that you’re walking into a season where God says, «I’m going to give you fruit without the facts»? I’m going to give you fruit without the facts. I know what the experts have said. I know what the doctors have said. I know what they have said, but God says, «I can give you fruit regardless of the facts.» You are walking into a season where God says, «I can give you victory without validation.» God says, «I can give you success that doesn’t even make any sense.» Look at your neighbor and say, «He’s talking to you!»
God says to tell you—I don’t know who you are—but I believe that word that God says: in this season, I’m about to give you evidence without explanation. Evidence without explanation— that’s my word! I don’t know about you. God says I’m about to give you «rema» evidence without explanation. «Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for you.» But God told me to tell you, «Rema, that He’s—I don’t know about you—but He’s about to give you evidence without explanation, victory without validation, blessings that don’t make any sense.» If you believe it like I believe it, say, «Yes!» I don’t care what the CT scan says!
