Sheryl Brady - Just Say The Word

Hey everybody, this is Pastor Cheryl Brady, and it is Sunday morning. Behold, He said, «I will do a new thing.» This is certainly a new thing; it’s a new thing for me anyway. But I am so glad today to know that if I’m going to do a new thing, I’m doing it among my church, my family—those of you who have been planted in the Potter’s House in North Dallas. I am so grateful for you, and I’m grateful for the fact that we are family. Whatever we go through, we go through it together, and we will survive together. We will come out on the other side, and I’m asking God not just to allow us to survive all of the things we’re facing right now, but I’m asking Him to cause us to thrive in the middle of the coronavirus. I’ve been praying for you; I’ve been lifting you up. I’ve been asking God to meet every need in your life. I’ve been asking Him to be a supplier, to keep your bodies well, to give you patience with your children, and to touch your heart. Today, I am so glad to be able to bring you what is on my heart. I want to ask you to take your Bibles, if you will. Hope you’ve got your Bibles, and I want to go today to the book of Matthew, chapter 8. While you’re turning there with me, I want to encourage you to really pull up your chair and sit close, and you know, as they used to say, «don’t touch that dial.» Just make sure that you’re tuned in and logged in because I think that what we’re going to talk about today is really going to help us. I’m excited about it, and I’m going to give it to you in the name of Jesus. So, let’s go today to Matthew chapter 8. I really just want to pull out one verse; it’s kind of a familiar passage of Scripture. It talks about the Centurion, and verse 8 says, «But the officer said, ‘Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed. Just say the word from where you are, and I know that my servant will be healed. Just say the word.’» Now, if we were at the Potter’s House North, I would tell you to look at your neighbor, touch your neighbor, and just open your mouth and look at them and say, «Just say the word, ” because that’s what I’m going to talk about today. Father, thank you for this moment; thank you for innovation and technology that gives us the opportunity to gather together around your precious word today. I pray that you would use me to speak comfort, to speak life, to speak correction if necessary, but just speak to us, God. We need to hear the sound of your voice. I ask you to bless these precious people today as we pull our chair up to your table. Bread of Heaven, I say it all the time: feed us until we want no more, and we thank you in advance for what you’re about to do. In the name of Jesus, you may be seated if you aren’t already. You know, last week was a very important day in my life. I was finally able to release my book entitled „Don’t Miss the Moment.“ Some of y’all have it! It was our launch day, and finally, the book that I had spent so long—two and a half years—to write was being released. On that launch day, it was a little bit of a difficult day because we were supposed to be excited; we were supposed to be celebrating. I was supposed to be doing a little bit of traveling. I was supposed to be signing some books, selling some books, and just taking the message that was in my heart to people all over the world. That day, I was able to get on the phone and talk to some friends. We received some congratulatory emails, some cards came in, and I got some interviews from home. Toward the end of the day, I looked up and saw a bouquet of roses that came from the Potter’s House of North Dallas, saying, „We love you, Pastor, and we’re celebrating your book launch!“ In between all of those things—the interviews, the congratulatory emails, the phone calls—every couple of minutes, I took my mind back to the television screen. I lifted my eyes and saw one bad report after another. Now, let me just go on the record and admit it: I am a news addict. I never thought I would be, but for years, I’ve just been that way. I feel like I have to know what is going on, so I started looking at the news. Then I’d look at my emails, smile, and then look back at the news. It was such a conflicting moment; the book that had taken me two and a half years and two major losses to finally launch was being released at the same time the coronavirus was making headlines as well. It was quite a mixture of a day, to say the least. I remember that evening, as I was getting ready for bed, I set my beautiful roses out on the countertop, and on my way to bed…
