Psalm chapter 1, the Bible says, «Blessed is the man who walks not after the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law, he meditates day and night.» Because of this, he shall be like a tree, planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season. Whose leaf shall not wither, and whatsoever he does shall prosper. Look at somebody and say, «Just do it!» Turn to somebody else and tell them, «You’ve got to just do it in your life. Just do it.»

Spirit of God, I thank You for this word, and I thank You for this day. I thank You for every person that has pressed their way into the sanctuary. I ask, God, that You would feed the flock of God. Let what I say go beyond just their ears, their heads, and their minds, but let it go deep into their spirits so that when we walk out of here, we will walk out demanding change in our lives. I thank You for it now, in Jesus’ name, amen and amen.

On your way down, hit somebody and tell them, «Just do it! It’s just time. It’s time for you to just do it. Yes, David, who most say is the author of this passage, was a man who knew what it was like to go through massive transformations in his lifetime. He faced all different levels of transformation: spiritual transformation, economic transformation, and social transformation. He was born a commoner, the son of a commoner, and his entire life turned upside down one day because he brought down a giant by the name of Goliath. He woke up that morning as David, but he went to sleep that night as Israel’s hero. Like that, he moved from being a commoner to being positioned to be the king. He went from being assigned to his father’s sheep to being assigned to Israel’s King. If you really read his story and look into his background, he is truly one of those rags-to-riches stories. Comparing the before to the after, it really is amazing what God did in this man’s life. Anyone who has made it through transformations in their life should be able to help others by telling them what they should do and what they maybe shouldn’t do when their lives face similar transformations.

Now, if you are a person who has ever known that you were blessed, and you have this memory of what it was like to live in a season when you weren’t so blessed, then when God does that thing in your life, there ought to be something in you that enables you to look at somebody else who’s struggling with blessings in their lives. You should be able to help them as they walk on the journey they need to begin to obtain that blessing. Look at somebody and tell them, „I have to be blessed. I have to be blessed.“ Now, that is imperative. Anyone here who works at this church—and most of you who attend frequently and call this church your home—have heard me talk about the blessing of the Lord. I am one person who has to have it. I will always recognize that I have to have it because, in myself, I am not enough. So, if I have His blessing, that changes the game. If I have His blessing, I am more than enough. So what does it mean to be blessed? It means to be happy, to be favored, and to be successful in the face of adversity. What it doesn’t mean is that you won’t face adversity. It doesn’t mean that you won’t have trouble. Just because you’re blessed doesn’t mean that you won’t have difficulty or distress, because you will. Yet when you are blessed, somehow you will always survive it. Do any blessed people know what I’m talking about?

Therefore, those of you who might be sitting around waiting for everything to be perfect in your life so that you can stand up and say, „I am blessed,“ you will be waiting for a mighty long time because that’s not what the blessing really is. That is not what it’s for. As a matter of fact, a lot of times, you can judge how blessed you are by the level of trouble or adversity you are able to stand up under. Hello, does anybody know what I mean? That’s how you can tell you are blessed. Because anyone else could have lost their mind—they almost lost their mind—but by the grace of God, you stood up under that, and you were able to bear it. And that’s not because you’re so strong, but because God is so good and He has blessed your life. And when the storms of life have come and knocked your legs out from underneath you, you have always managed to land on your feet.
