Today, I want to talk about finding your sound, and I believe that there are things that are yours that you don’t even realize yet. I believe that there are victories that you have right now—victories that are established for you because of battles that you are yet to fight. I believe that there are inheritances that exist for you that are not just for you; they are for your children’s children. While in the present moment, you are just trying to keep yourself afloat, could it be I’m in a moment where I’m just trying to fulfill my destiny and keep my life afloat? But the reality is in what God has already placed in the universe for me. God has already prepared a future for my great-grandkids who haven’t even been born yet. How many of us know this is the type of God we serve, right? He’s a multi-generational God. We find ourselves asking God how we are going to make it, and yet He already has your great-great-grandson taken care of. All these things exist as an inheritance for the believer, and these are things that we don’t know. The Bible says a generation not yet born will praise you. It’s incredible. Some of us are here, and I think it’s fitting for Mother’s Day. Some of us are here not because we did all the right things, but because grandma was praying. Come on, somebody! Let’s keep it real: you think that one day you just woke up? No, one day grandma’s prayers manifested! You don’t even realize it—she didn’t tell you, but you acted crazy, and she was fasting, praying, and believing God. I know that’s the case with me. You cannot deny that if you want, but I didn’t get saved because I was so righteous. I got saved because my grandmother was faithful, because my mother was faithful, and they continued to pray. So part of their blessing was me, which is encouraging because it can’t flow to the generations unless it overflows from you. Some of you are going to experience such a radical shift in your life in just a hot minute—just a hot second—where you’re going to go from wondering if you’ll make it to praying for the generations that will come from you. Are you tracking with me yet? In the midst of all of these promises and all these things that are part of our inheritance in God, here is one truth that we have to recognize: there are strongholds and barriers that oppose those things. Now, I don’t say that to frighten you because everything that opposes you has actually already been dealt with and defeated. What I’d like to call your sound—your sound, your sound—is who you truly are. I’m not talking about noise; I’m talking about your sound. It’s your essence, the score of you, the sound of you. For most of our lives, we are trying to figure out what that is. Sound is interesting, you know. On the Day of Pentecost—and I think Pentecost Sunday is actually next Sunday—it’s really interesting. On the Day of Pentecost, when it describes what happened when the believers were in the upper room, many people think that a wind filled the room and that the wind was the Spirit. No, it says a sound from heaven filled the room as a rushing wind. It was like a wind, but it was a sound. Oh, I feel God! It was a sound that produced creation. It was something like, «And God said, 'Let there be light.'» If you study that in Hebrew, it can be better translated as, «And God sang, 'Let there be light.'» Everything that was created was created by a sound, and you have a unique sound. If you were ever to release that sound, everything that opposes you would recognize that sound and fall flat, just like the walls of Jericho. Oh, I feel the Lord! This is why He told them not to shout yet but to go through this process. The number seven kept coming up in this process, and we all know that the number seven is the number of maturity, the number of completion, and the number of perfection. So He says, «There will be a time for you to shout or release your sound, but it is not now because if you release your sound too early, then you will tip off the enemy that you’re not ready.» Oh, I feel the Holy Spirit on that! Have you ever seen the movie The Lion King? Growing up, Simba was a bad boy, right? His roar was ferocious, but that was grown-up Simba. Remember little baby Simba? When he tried to do his little roar, it was just terrible! He sounded like a kitten. Even though the potential for a dominating sound was in him, he still had to grow into that roar. Ultimately, the sound the Lord gave me this thought for you—if you’re taking notes, write this down—is: your life is an instrument of heaven that is designed to release sounds that will bring order to chaos. I’m saying it again: your life is an instrument of heaven. You are heaven’s instrument! You did not start here; you started in heaven! Oh God! You are designed to release sounds at various times in your life and on your journey that will bring order to chaos. And I’ll say this: there is a sound in you for every demon, every stronghold, every obstacle, and every opposition you will face.
