We’re whole, and love makes us whole. God’s love is powerful; it delivers, heals, and restores. You and I are completely different people when we live in the consciousness of how God feels about us all the time. It brings out the best in us, and those around us are rewarded because that happens. I want us to press into love; I want family as a church family. When people walk through these doors, I want them to feel the atmosphere of love because, remember, love is not an emotion—emotions are subject to whims. If we as a church have love that is merely an emotion, all it takes is a bad day, and the people whom Jesus said will be drawn to Christ because of our love will be repelled. We may love based on emotions and not on a personal inner transformation that allows us to have the identity of love—not just the attribute of love—and that’s what I want. As we grow and move forward, there will be all types of people that come to this church—people dressed casually and people in suits. God loves all of them; He loves skinny jeans with holes in them, and He loves three-piece suits and bow ties. What I’m getting at is that the anointing of God will draw all types. That’s one of the things I love about this church: multicultural, multi-generational. Our fashion may differ, but there’s so much love in this room. I thank God for Pastor Walton and many of our elders. I thank God for the more mature members, and I thank God for the babies. I love it, and we need each other. I want the rockers to come in here and help somebody! In fact, I want you to leave the club and come here until this place gets you to leave the club! Are you tracking with me? Yeah, because this church is always about people, and mostly about the people who aren’t in our church yet. Think about the concept of leaving the 99 to go after the one. What does that mean? What one was He talking about? The one that was lost. We can’t be a church full of a bunch of found people and build all our programming around found people. That would be almost like anti-Christ. What we have to do is nurture and cultivate a culture of love with the kingdom mindset and strategy to win Denver. If 8,000 people from all over this world are moving to Denver, it is because God is doing something here. Are you tracking with me? We can’t be so exclusive in our mutual interests that we fail to see the harvest pouring into our city every single day. We need to be equipped and ready for it. If we embody love and let love be the core of everything we do, if someone misbehaves and security has to escort them out, we will just love on them all the way out the door. Oh, we love you so much! I know you have to go, but we love you, and we’re praying for you! In fact, I want you to remember what I mean. It’s got to be different! If someone comes in here wearing shorts, we’re glad you’re here! Yes, I’m not clapping; that’s okay. We still grow—wear shorts and flip-flops! We can’t be so distracted by what they’re wearing that we fail to see that a soul who needs Jesus walked through these doors. This is where we’re heading. Let me tell you something, and I didn’t mean for this to be a part of the message, but I feel it’s necessary. The alternative is that we can not change at all, continue as normal, and let me tell you what’s going to happen: we won’t be here. We’ll have this big building, and there will be a hundred people who look alike, dress alike, and talk alike. When those 100 people die, the church will be finished. That’s the alternative; it’s the truth, and it’s happening in churches all over the world because we’ve missed what this is really аbout: it’s about souls, it’s about love. Are you going to be a part of God’s love army as we move forward? Let’s take this church to another level. Jesus said the world will know you by your love—not by your Bible verses that you quote—because the world doesn’t care about that. They don’t care what you know until they know that you care. That’s why love is the most powerful tool of evangelism. Because of our relationship with Christ, we can embody that love. Come on, let’s stand. I want to pray for you. You don’t have to leave; don’t leave! This prayer is different. See, being in your family means I want you to come up. My prayer is that we become a love army! Love is not weakness; love doesn’t compromise who you are. I’m talking about acknowledging that who you are is God’s love. If you didn’t give the world anything else, you just gave them God’s love.
