Toure Roberts - Conversations with Others

I want to proceed with our series today; it’s the Higher Conversation Series. The feedback I’ve been receiving about this series from all over the world has been nothing short of incredible. God is moving, God is speaking, and I believe we are all becoming better as a result of what God is conveying to us through these messages. We will continue on this topic today, focusing on conversations with others. We’ve already discussed conversations with God, and if you’ve missed any of those previous teachings, I encourage you to go back and download the podcast, or visit YouTube, as they are all there waiting for you to experience them anew. We talked about conversations with God, as well as conversations with ourselves. The second most important—and sometimes it feels like the most important—conversation we should master and ensure is of high quality is the conversation with ourselves. We covered this last week; yokes were broken, lives were changed—it was absolutely incredible! Today, we will talk about conversations with others, and I want to draw your attention to our foundational passage of Scripture. This thought is based on Mark chapter 12, verses 28 through 31. If you’ve been around me for any length of time, you know that I am passionate about this passage. I believe in the ideas Jesus presented to us, and I am convinced that if we get this right, we will get everything right. In fact, that’s ultimately the context of this story. Jesus is being questioned about what the greatest commandment of all is. It says, «Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceived that He had answered them well. Perceiving that Jesus had answered them well, he asked Jesus, ‘Which is the first commandment of all? Which commandment should we prioritize? What’s the most important commandment? ’» And Jesus answered him, «The first of all the commandments is what is called the Shema: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.’» Then He continues by saying, «And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.» Man, that’s all of you! He says we should love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. He continues, «This is the first commandment, and the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’» Then He concludes, «There is no other commandment greater than these.» Let’s pray. Father, we thank You so very much for this opportunity to come before You, to be sharpened, to get into Your Word, to study, to grow, to be edified, and to be built up—ultimately to become better. Hallelujah! We know that happens when we are at Your table of bread. Hallelujah! There’s bread here today—bread to build us up, bread to heal us, bread to strengthen us, and bread to enlighten our eyes. We are so grateful for the bread of life, which is You. You are here; You said when two are gathered together in Your name, You would be in the midst. Hallelujah! So we welcome You, Holy Spirit, into our hearts and into our minds, God, that You might teach us, lead us, and feed us. We thank You for the growth that will take place as a result of our time together. Personally, I thank You for the spirit of wisdom, revelation, insight, knowledge, prophecy, and access to heaven’s resources to communicate these truths clearly, concisely, and impactfully. Not one person who experiences this teaching will remain the same; their life will be enhanced, their ability to flow and function with others will elevate, and it will help them in their relationships, businesses, ministries, and everything they set their hands to. Because they grasp these principles, they will prosper and thrive. I thank You, God, that everyone under the sound of my voice will be upgraded as a result of this wisdom. I thank You that I’m going to be better, and as I improve, everything around me will improve.» I dare you to take a minute and just claim better right now. Come on! By faith, put it out there and say, «I claim better right now! I claim better! I claim better!» God didn’t keep me around for things to go backwards. No, it’s not going to be backwards; it’s going to be better! Come on, put it in the comments right there: say «better, not backwards!» Come on, come on—better, not backwards!
