Dharius Daniels - I'm Sick of This

[spoiler]Mark chapter 5, verse 21 says this: When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. Then one of the synagogue leaders named Jairus came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. He pleaded earnestly with him, «My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.» So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed him and pressed around him, and a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had. Yet instead of getting better, she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak because she thought, «If I can just touch his clothes, I’ll be healed.» Immediately her bleeding stopped, and she felt in her body that she was free from her suffering. At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned to the crowd and asked, «Who touched me?» They said, «You see the people crowding against you, yet you ask, ‘Who touched me? ’» But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet, trembling with fear, and told him the whole truth. He said, «Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free from your suffering.»

I want to tag a title to this text, and I want to talk from this subject that hopefully includes some of your affirmations and declarations. Here it is: «I’m Sick of This.» I want to use this introduction as an opportunity to introduce some of you to a friend you probably did not know you had. I know you may assume that you are aware of who your friends are, but I’d like to inform you that you have one friend that you may need to revisit and reconsider. There’s a friend that you have that you don’t often call a friend or even treat as one, even though this friend is probably your best friend. You likely dismiss this friend, ghost this friend, avoid this friend, ignore their texts, decline their FaceTimes, and leave their DMs on read. However, although you avoid this friend, very few friends add value to your life like this one. At this point, you probably want to know who this friend is—that supposedly one of your best friends that you don’t treat like a friend because you don’t know they are your friend. I want to introduce you to this friend if you want to know who they are. I said, do you want to know the name of this friend? Yes! This friend’s name is Frustration.

I want to introduce you to a friend called Frustration. Frustration doesn’t always feel like your friend, and it doesn’t always show up looking like a friend. Frustration isn’t always perceived to be a friend, but I am telling someone sitting in this space today that Frustration is your friend. I call Frustration your friend because when I look at the number of times the Bible seems to describe friends, the Scriptures suggest that friends don’t just make me feel better; they actually help me become better. In an attempt for a friend to assist in orchestrating some transformation in my life, at some point, they are going to have to give me some agitation. Yes. This is the way the writer of Proverbs puts it: «Wounds from a friend can be trusted.» My assumption is that a friend would never wound me. I believe what the writer is inferring here is not that a friend will hurt your life, but sometimes your friends will injure your ego to preserve your future. Did you hear what I just said? Yes, I said sometimes a friend will say, «I’m willing to risk hurting your feelings if it’s actually going to preserve your future.» I am willing to risk agitating you if it’s going to elevate you. A friend is saying, «I love you more than I love our relationship, ” and so because I love you more than I love the relationship, I’m willing to say some things, call you out on some things, and challenge you in some areas so that you don’t settle for a life that is less than God’s best for you.

I want to talk to some people in this room who are walking in and walking through a season of Frustration. I am telling you that all Frustration is, is an indication that you no longer belong on the level you’re at. Did you hear what I just said? I said all Frustration is an indication that you no longer belong on the level you’re at. It is a gift from God, and sometimes it’s God Himself who says, „Because if I don’t start making you frustrated and making you agitated, you will stay stuck in places and spaces that you know you have to get out of. You will settle in ways that you have not been designed and called to settle.“ I know some people in this room are getting ready to blow up from the flow up, and the reason I can say that with confidence is this: you are more blessed than you’ve ever been, yet at the same time, you’re more frustrated than you’ve ever been before. This Frustration is a divine agitation; it’s when God won’t let you be comfortable. It’s when God won’t let you sit in a space that is less than your potential. It’s the way God moves.
