Dharius Daniels - RESET - Part 4

Man, welcome! This is our Wednesday night Bible study. We're in a series studying the book of Romans, and we're using it to give us a reset in our lives. Everyone, at some point and in some situation, is going to need a reset. You're going to need a reset relationally, financially, professionally, or emotionally. I believe this, regardless of when you're watching this: God's word is eternally relevant. There's never a season in which God's word isn't applicable to you. So it doesn't matter when you're watching this; it’s your time for a reset.

Listen to this; I want you to grasp this revelation about resets: your reset requires your participation. Throughout scripture, we see examples of God performing miracles for His people, but these miracles often required the partnership of His people, which indicated their faith. It’s not about us earning a miracle; it's about releasing faith for a miracle by doing all that we can do and then believing that God will do all that He can do. Jesus turned water into wine because there was participation. He took the two fish and five loaves of bread and worked a miracle because that was participation. The Red Sea was parted because there was participation. The walls of Jericho fell down because there was participation—they walked around the walls once a day for six days, and on the seventh day, they walked around seven times. Then, on the seventh time around, when they heard the horn, they shouted! What’s that? Participation!

Listen, we’re starting already. If you’re part of our Wednesday night crew, you know what to do: drop an emoji every time you feel God is speaking to you or a divine gem is shared. What’s a gem? It’s something that adds value to you, something that does more than entertain you; it exists to evolve you. There’s a song I used to listen to while growing up called "Do You Want a Revolution?" I love that song! Here’s another one: this is Daniel’s version: "Do You Want an Evolution?" I believe that’s what a reset is about—evolution. I’m telling somebody it’s your season for evolution. I want the people around you, those close to you, the ones in relationship with you, to get a good look at you. If you let God have His way with you, He’s going to introduce you to a you they won't even recognize. Yes, we need a reset, and we are using God’s word for this.

When I started this series a few weeks ago, I used the example of video games. I said, “Listen, fam, when I play video games, if you want a reset, you have to know what button to push.” If you want a reset in your life, you’ve got to know what button to push. Watch this: we need more than just an intention for a reset. If we are going to have a reset, we need more than intention. It’s like someone saying, “I intend to come pick you up.” That does nothing for me unless you execute that intention. I believe the adversary is after our execution. This is why I think this forum is so special to me. We believe in utilizing technology to share God’s word.

Our churches believe technology is like Goliath’s sword. When David knocked down Goliath with that slingshot, he ran up to him, grabbed his sword, and cut off his head. David used what Goliath intended to use against him. That’s the way we see technology; the enemy wants to use it to ensnare us in practices, behaviors, and thought patterns that don’t lead us to God’s best. But we are taking this weapon of technology that the enemy wants to use against you and your children. One of the ways he wants to use technology is to diminish your relationship skills and those of your children, making them excellent texters but poor communicators in person.

I want to remind you that while God opens doors that no man can shut and closes doors no one can open, He also uses people as doors. How many know there are places you entered and spaces you occupied because God used someone as a door to give you access? That’s why I wrote a whole book on this called "Relational Intelligence." Your relational skills and IQ are important life skills, and the enemy wants to use technology to make us poor at relationships. He wants to use technology to disciple us into a distracted life.

See, sometimes we are unaware of the impact something has on us. I’m not making light of this—there are people who realistically struggle with this, and I do not diminish the impact it has. But I am saying that some people biologically, psychologically, or physiologically deal with attention deficit disorder.
