Dharius Daniels - RESET - Part 8

We’re in a Wednesday night teaching called «Reset.» We’re almost done; I think we’re about two weeks away from this, and we’ll start something different in June. But we’re in this series called «Reset,» and we’re doing this series of teachings because we are either coming out of, in the middle of, or heading into a season where a reset in some area is going to be necessary. Watch this; somebody put this in the chat: «Reset or regress.» Yeah, if we don’t reset, we will regress. Relationally, we need resets. Now, I talked about this in the message that I taught this past Sunday in the «Respectfully» series. The message was called «Did You Hear What I Just Said?» In that message, y’all, I talked about how, watch this, satisfaction in relationships is seasonal. Satisfaction in relationships is seasonal. So the thing that satisfies you at 18 isn’t always the thing that satisfies you at 28, and the thing that satisfies you at 28 isn’t going to always satisfy you at 48. Come on, if you’re feeling that, put «Facts» in the chat; drop that fast! Yeah, so satisfaction is seasonal. If, in the context of a relationship, a person doesn’t learn how to reset, without resets there’s going to be irrelevance, and wherever there’s irrelevance in the context of a relationship, somebody’s going to be agitated. So relationally, you’re going to need a reset. Financially, you’re going to need a reset. There may be a season where income comes in in ways that are greater than what you expect, and you’ve got to reset how you manage and how you distribute. You’ve got to reset how you invest; you’ve got to reset how you loan. Yes! Or there may be a season where fewer resources come in; you’ve got to reset there. So if we don’t reset, we will end up regressing. But I believe I’m talking to some people on this Wednesday night who have made up their minds that their season, or seasons, of regressing is over. I’m going to say that one more time: I believe I’ve got some people watching today who feel like I do—that you have this conviction that says, «No more backward seasons for me!» Yeah, the car of my life does not have reverse on the steering wheel anymore. No, no, no, no; no more reverse! I may not move forward as swiftly as I’d like to. Things may not be accelerating the way I prefer them to, but my season—come on, declare that your season of regression is over! I’ve been through too much, learned too much; I’ve had to learn too many hard lessons to regress. No, no, no, no, no—no more backward movement; forward! Too blessed to go backward. So check this out, y’all, check this out. We’re using God’s Word to help us. Watch this: it’s one thing to desire a reset; it’s another thing to experience one. And this is something that we’ve got to get clear on in a Christian context because very often, we praise, we pray, and we sing about things that we desire, but desire is not the same as experience. And if we’re going to experience a reset, we’ve got to know how to orchestrate one. We’re using God’s Word—why are we using God’s Word? Why are we studying the Bible to do this? Because the quality of your life is based on the quality of decisions, and the quality of decisions is based on the quality of information you have. And the Bible is the most reliable source of information on how we ought to live our lives. So we’re using the Book of Romans, and tonight we’re going to explore chapters 10, 11, and 12. We’re getting ready to use the Book of Romans to help us orchestrate a reset in the area of our understanding. Yeah, yeah, tonight you’re going to learn— we’re going to learn how to reset our understanding. Listen to me; somebody put this in the chat. If you’re part of Change Church, you’ve heard this before, but put this in the chat. Here it is: whatever area we’re ignorant in, we suffer in. I’m going to say that one more time: whatever area we are ignorant in, we suffer in. Whatever area we’re ignorant in, we suffer in. This is why the enemy, the adversary, aggressively and intentionally attempts to infect us with ignorance. He knows ignorance is expensive; he knows that it costs us to be ignorant. If we’re ignorant relationally, it costs us. If we’re ignorant spiritually, it costs us. If we’re ignorant financially, it costs us. If we’re ignorant professionally, it costs us. This is why the enemy is called the prince of darkness. One of the reasons I taught you this is because darkness is not just a metaphor for evil—it is a metaphor, but that’s not the only metaphorical use of darkness. Darkness is also a metaphor for ignorance. If we say somebody is ignorant, we’re saying they’re in the dark. So the enemy wants us infected and affected with ignorance because whatever area we are ignorant in is the area we will suffer in. Are y’all hearing me? Am I making sense?
