She said, «Darius, your back is hurting because your core is weak.» Y’all didn’t hear what I just said, so I’m going to say it one more time: she said, «Your back is hurting because your core is weak.» Immediately, I began to execute that experience and thought, «I can apply that to life.» The area where I have pain isn’t always the area where I have a problem. Recently, I was having a conversation with my mother that caused me to reflect on an experience that may help us view prayer, at least from the angle I want to take today, in its proper perspective. My mom and I were talking about something that was going on with her back, and I said, «Yeah, you know, I had that issue with my back, too. I went to get it checked out, and they did the testing and these kinds of things.» Then I came back and talked to different people, one of whom was an exercise physiologist. They did the testing, looked at my back, and after reviewing everything, she provided me with a blueprint—a plan I needed to work on when I went home. Some exercises. As I looked through all of the exercises, I noticed they all targeted my abs. I said, «I’m sorry; I think this is a mistake. I think this may belong to someone else. I’m not here because I have an abs problem; my back hurts.» You said something I’ll never forget, and I love a straight shooter. Don’t just tell me what it is; tell me straight. She said, «Darius, your back is hurting because your core is weak.» Alright, y’all didn’t hear what I just said, so I’m going to say it one more time: she said, «Your back is hurting because your core is weak.» Immediately, I began to execute that experience and thought, «I can apply that to life.» The area where I feel pain isn’t always the area where I have a problem. Did you hear what I just said? Sometimes, I have pain in one area because I have a problem in another, and I’ll never be able to deal with the pain in this area until I fix the problem in another area. Sometimes in life, our relationships are hurting because our core is weak. Sometimes in life, our emotions are suffering because our core is weak. Sometimes in life, our focus is divided because our core is weak. Sometimes in life, we deal with habits that keep us stuck and meandering through a maze of mediocrity because our core is weak. The enemy wants us to focus on the fruit when God is trying to deal with the roots. He said, «You will not have to keep chasing around all of these problematic areas if you deal with the area that is actually the root cause of the pain.» Thank you. I did what that woman said: I worked those exercises, and the more I worked on my core, the better my back felt. I’m trying to help somebody today. The more I worked on the core, the better my back felt. This is what I want you to know, family: the core of your life, listen to me, is your spirituality. Come on now! I always want to challenge you. I never want you to feel condemned, small, or less than, but I want to challenge you. We can’t get to where we are until we get to where we’re going, right? We have to have ownership. So, here’s my question: spiritually, how’s your core? Thank you, because some of us think we have a back problem; we think we have a spouse problem, but how’s the core? And I’m not saying they aren’t real problems, but you don’t know until you strengthen the core. Did you hear what I just said? This is what I want you to know: God has a strategy for strengthening the spiritual core. I didn’t know this until now, so let me tell you what the strategy is. I’m out here now. God has a strategy for strengthening the core. Lord have mercy! Some of us have been told to strengthen the core, but you haven’t been taught how to strengthen the core. Listen to me: a person can’t teach you to strengthen the core if their core is not strong. Wait a minute; hold on. Are y’all okay? Come on now! Can I just flow in my assignment? Can I be who God called me to be? Can I preach this Gospel of the Kingdom? Alright, here it is: the issue with some of us—this is not a critique; it’s an observation—is you’ve been taught by people with strong gifts, not a strong core. You think both of them are the same. You think because they can preach you into a frenzy, their spirituality is as big as their gift. Y’all are not ready. You see how tight it got right here? Did you hear what I just said? The usage of a person’s gift publicly is no indication of their spiritual state, because it’s easy to preach what you don’t live. Preaching is the easiest part. If a person has not tried these things, labored with them, perfected them, and proved them, some people are teaching things they haven’t proved yet. Oh, Hallelujah!
