Dharius Daniels - You Need CLARITY for Your Goals and Purpose

Because in this season of our lives, I don’t want any man around me who doesn’t appreciate his wife. I also don’t want you to have friends who hate their husbands. They are on the phone spewing negativity to you, and then you come and look at me sideways. I’m not even doing that! Why are you so aggressive with me? I don’t like the way you talk to her.

GPS is an acronym for three things we figured out, which we hacked that literally changed our lives by exponentially increasing our influence, impact, income, peace, and purpose, as well as bringing the right people and the right prophets into our lives. Here it is:

Number one, we understood something we had heard before but never fully grasped until this season. The first letter is G, and it represents goals. Everybody write that down: goals. I knew the importance of vision, but I didn’t understand the power of goals. Are you all ready for this? Goals are the way to break your vision into increments. There is a vision for your life, but that vision is accomplished through small steps.

Exodus 23 says, «But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you. Little by little, I will drive them out before you until you have increased enough to take possession of the land.» Did you hear me? He says your increase will determine your ability to accomplish certain things, so as I incrementally increase and improve who I am, I will be able to incrementally accomplish what I could not achieve before I became that version of myself. Does that make sense? So, somebody say «goals.» Yeah, it’s about putting your vision into increments.

One of the things we realized—and this is what Daniel’s Den is all about—is that your life is integrated. We received this revelation: compartmentalization is a myth. If you think your emotional life doesn’t affect every other area of your life, you are deceived. Did you hear what I just said? I don’t care how great a budget a person has; if they cannot manage their impulses, triggers, and emotional life, they will not be able to manage a budget. Am I making sense? The idea that you can fix one area of your life without addressing the others that impact it is just a myth.

I saw how I was spiritually affected by my emotional state. Can you handle that? I also noticed how emotionally I was impacted by my spiritual state. Sometimes I knew I should pray, but I just didn’t feel like it. I knew I should pray, but I was simply too discouraged to do so. So I said, «You know what? I have to set goals. I need spiritual goals!»

Then we realized this: everyone always asked how much we wanted to make and what we wanted to do, but nobody asked how we wanted to feel. So, I want to set emotional goals! I got goals for how I want to feel. I want to feel happy. I know there will be times of grief, loss, and trouble, but I want happiness to be the rule, not the exception.

I set relational goals. This was tough, as we had to be very clear about the types of people we wanted in our lives. We had to become less controlling and allow God to decide who those people were. Sometimes He would pull people out of our lives, and we would pull them back in. When things happened, God would say, «That’s why I pulled them out. I was trying to remove them before you got hurt.» Some of our problems arise because we refuse to give up our «Isaac» until we see the ram. We must be willing to give up our «Isaac» to see the ram.

So we said, «It’s just going to be me and you for a season until God sends the right people.» In this season of our lives, I don’t want any man around me who doesn’t appreciate his wife, and I don’t want you to have friends who hate their husbands. They are on the phone spilling all that negativity to you, while you look at me sideways. I’m not even doing that!
