Keion Henderson - The Third Anointing

This is my subject for today: «The Third Anointing.» High-five the same person three times, not three different people. Tell them, «The Third Anointing». You may be seated. How many? I’ll miss one out of the three. Late and nestled within the harmony of scriptural reference is a conception and ideology that can be traced throughout antiquity to one of the most influential items and substances in description. If you look inside a car, there is both water and oil. Water is used for temperature; oil is used for movement. It’s called viscosity. The thicker the oil, the better it is for a car. Some is 5W30, and different viscosities exist because certain machines need certain oils. When you look in the scripture, you see oil performing a multifarious amount of tasks; you never see it doing the same thing in one instance. In 1 Samuel chapter 10, you see the oil being poured on a man who is structured into authority. Immediately when Samuel showed up to Saul, the moment he gave him the oil, he was king. His oil came equipped with a castle, a carriage, cash, and a career. Now, David, six chapters later, you see him coming, and as a matter of fact, you see that in chapter 10, the oil is in a flask, whereas in chapter 16, it’s in a horn. When you see David receive this oil, Saul was anointed king instantly; David was anointed king eventually. Remember, he was anointed, but he did not get a castle, he did not get a carriage, he did not get cash, he did not have an account; he got sent back to the field because there was a different type of anointing. In 2 Kings, you see a woman who only has a few ounces of oil left. The prophet shows up, and now she has more oil than she can receive. Look at the oil; you’re running, but then when she runs out of buckets, the oil stops. You see in Mark chapter 6, there was a man who had demons in him, and the Bible says that the oil drove the demons out of him. Look at the dichotomy and the contrast in Mark chapter 6: you see oil rushing demons out of a man, but then when you go over to Saul, you see oil on him in a demon’s state. You see a woman with an alabaster box of oil that she has held for years, and then she gets into the presence of Jesus. The Bible says she breaks her alabaster box of oil at the feet of Jesus. She’s been saving it for years, but she sees Jesus and breaks it in a moment. Let me tell you, when Jesus shows up, something has to break. I don’t know what you’ve been holding on to for years, but when Jesus shows up, something has to break. We see the oil doing many things, so the oil has proved two things through our analysis of this litany of examples that I’ve given you. Number one, it shows us that the oil is powerful, but the other thing it shows us is that the oil is not predictable. You cannot predict how much anointing you will have; you cannot predict how much anointing someone else will have. That’s why Paul says in Ephesians chapter 4, verse 7: to every man, there was given a measure of grace according to the gift that Jesus Christ has put inside of us. The oil is a grown man; it doesn’t take orders from anybody. The oil does not ask for permission; it falls on whom it wants to, and it doesn’t on whom it feels like. That’s why you shouldn’t be walking around here apologizing for the favor on your life, because favor ain’t fair. When you’ve been picked out of a crowd, David, you don’t have time to go around and shake everybody’s hand and apologize to them because they didn’t get picked. This is not American Idol; you don’t have to hug everybody, you don’t have to make them feel good so that you don’t feel bad. This is your season; it’s showtime, and it’s showtime, so get ready for God to put it on you. Can I get a witness in this house? I decree and declare you’re getting ready to get houses that you didn’t build; you’re getting ready to get vineyards that you didn’t plant. You’re about to get jobs you don’t qualify for. They’re gonna call you in and promote you, and the girl who got the degree ain’t gonna get the job because this job doesn’t require a certificate; it requires oil. I don’t know who I’m talking to, but some of y’all gonna get speeding tickets, and they gonna let you go. Some of y’all gonna look like I’m already in here: thank you, Holy Ghost! Yeah, it’s you. They’re not gonna let you go because you’re cute; they gonna let you go because you’re anointed. Get ready to move in neighborhoods you never thought you could live in because, why? While you’re signing the paper, oil’s gonna drip off your fingertips and get on the dotted line. Somebody shout, «I’m signing this one in oil!» The oil is powerful, but it is not predictable, and that’s what I love about the oil because it runs and it flows with me. Nobody can get in the way of the oil that God has assigned to you, so you don’t have to worry about people who don’t like you. They may not like your personality, but they can’t affect your oil. Just somebody say, «You can’t touch my oil; you can’t touch my oil!» Oil is a substance that makes friction impossible, which is why you gotta have oil on your life.
