I'm David Jeremiah, and welcome to "Turning Point". As we conclude this series of messages on the life of Elijah, I feel like I'm parting from a mentor and a friend. We have learned so much from Elijah, it's why I titled this series, "Someone Like You". Today's final message is about the closing chapter of Elijah's life and what we can learn about the past, the present, and the future for our own lives.
This message is called "Passing the Torch," a beautiful example of what it means to create a legacy that can be passed to the next generation. Elijah knew God's plan for his life and he accepted it wholeheartedly. He was focused on the future of God's work, not his own personal future. I believe you will be touched by this transitional point in Elijah's life if you'll join me for today's edition of "Turning Point".
Elijah ends up on the Mount of Transfiguration for one reason: Elijah's always been about Jesus, and the books of the Old Testament are all about Jesus. If you study them enough, if you watch them enough, if you read them enough, you'll find Jesus almost everywhere. There really aren't many messages in the Bible; there are one message, and the message is the message of Jesus Christ.
