I'm David Jeremiah. Welcome to "Turning Point". Today, from the life of Elijah, we are going to learn the most important lesson in the Christian life. The act of faith is not as important as the object of faith. Exactly what that means, and more importantly what it means for you, will become clear as we investigate the most dramatic event in Elijah's ministry.

I call this current series of messages "Someone Like You" to illustrate how God called an ordinary man, Elijah, to do extraordinary things. That is what God wants to do with ordinary men and women today: equip us to stand for him in an unfriendly world. That's what Elijah did when he confronted the pagan priests in Israel. That's why I've titled today's message "One Man Against the World". You won't want to miss this powerful example of how God uses people who are faithful to him.
